Regarding Az attempt to ban semi-automatic weapons

Posted on 09/24/2004 5:51:28 PM PDT by azdesertrhino

I'm new here but found this site by doing a search regarding the possible banning of semi-automatic weapons in Arizona.

There is a movement by the left to institute a stronger ban against weapons in Arizona. We are starting a movement to fight this action and ask that you visit our forum site. We have only been online for a couple of days and are still working out the bugs. If we all don't get involve we will lose one of our fundamental constitutional rights.

Help us keep our rights to bear arms!!

Thank you,

Jim

I can assure you, you won't be alone in your mission. If you'd like, you can get in touch with the Arizona State Coordinator for Second Amendment Sisters and see if you all might be able to pool your resources.

Thanks!

Why?

Arizona is a fairly pro-gun state, so why not spend your time on the offensive, instead of trying to "stop" something that has little chance of passage anyway?

You DO have the right idea with forming a state-based organization. The NRA really doesn't do much at the state level, and most of the progress on the RKBA that has happened at that level, has been as a result of grass-roots organizations.

If you go to packing.org, they have a lot of good info there

Please check my post, "Register Gun Owners to Vote - VoteGuns04!", it is in the Bang List down towards the bottom. It has some grassroots ideas for organizing, getting people to join and vote. You can customize it for your AWB cause in AZ. Even if it is an extremely unlikely proposition that an AWB is viable in AZ you will have registered gunowners to vote and gotten some to join the NRA. Good luck!

You might wish to see if you can get online advice or help in setting up your efforts...

This is the Western Missouri Shooters Alliance link..

http://www.wmsa.net/

Missouri has just gone through several years of getting concealed carry passed, and is still fighting isolated pockets of resistance..

Their experience(s) may be useful to you in garnering support, contacting officials, just plain paperwork and filing briefs, etc..
