Just a quick thing I wanted to point out about NC early voting, one of few states that breaks it out by age: 2008: 18-29 14.9% 30-44 23.5% 45-64 40.2% 65+ 21.4% 2012: 18-29 10.8% (DOWN by 4.1%) 30-44 18.3% (DOWN by 5.2%) 45-59 29.1% (DOWN by 11.1%) 60+ 41.7% (UP by 20.3%) Older voters favor Romney...and are showing up in WAY higher numbers for early voting compared to 2008 early voting...while young voters who favor Obama are down to only 10% of early votes (from nearly 15% in 2008).

Clearly I can post and reply to threads, but looking for instruction on other functions. Specifically like posting pictures, quoting, font styles like underline, bold, strikeout, etc. Is there a FR help section or link I can click on? Thanks!!!

How can I do this? I've become annoyed with all of you as a Libertarian and want out. Can I call out the mods to delete me? I'll admit that I was a good freep member for years (since 2006) but I can't take you all anymore. You are all way too naive--until you all realize this, we are all doomed. John Stossel, Ayn Rand, and Nick Gillespie are my heroes not big government George Bush (I and II), Ronald Reagan, and Bill O'Reilley. Grow up. You are all great people, but I'm done. Out.

I am new to Free Republic. I look forward to being a small part of this community. I see by many of the postings that most of the posters on this website are ANTI-Romney. That is good because I am too. I am a conservative from Tallahassee, Florida. I am torn between Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. Reading some of the postings I see there are passionate folks on the Newt side as well as on the Rick side. I am leaning toward Rick Santorum because I think he can best beat Romney in the Primary and frankly I think...

I posted a legit article about the President being threatened. Now why was it removed?

Every working American has lost a fortune since King O'Bozo took office and put an end to small business! Tell us your story. What do you do for a living, and if you lost your job and/or still working for less hours/wages, how much would you say you have lost in the last three years? I would imagine some of you may have lost upwards to a million.

(CNN) – Businessman Herman Cain previously advocated for a criminal trial in the event that al Qaeda operative Anwar al-Awlaki was captured. But now that al-Awlaki has been killed by a drone missile, the 2012 GOP presidential candidate is "pleased that we have one less al Qaeda member that's threatening us," according to campaign spokesman JD Gordon. When pressed on whether Cain's feelings represent a departure from his earlier views, that al-Awlaki was an American citizen and deserved a trial, Gordon said, "It would be better to try him in court (but) if that's not feasible, we don't want him...

Like the title of the thread says, there's a new freeper among the ranks. I've been a constant lurker on FR for about 2/12 years now, so I know my way around FR pretty well. Homeschooled christian conservative, not a gun owner yet, unless useless dinky little BB guns count, cuz' I have about a dozen of those. I don't have a job yet, or a driver's license, although that will probably change soon, cuz' I'm 17 years old. So, first post ever in the bag. Howdy.

Please forgive my lack of computer skills but I really need to get this out. I live and work east of El Paso and under the national radar the cartels are spending their money bigtime. Tornillo/Gadalupe is a project to build the biggest port of entry in the US.On the Mexican side of the Rio Grande the cartels have taken over everything.El Porvenir and up the river The Bravest Woman in Mexico The cartels have literally run these people out of their homes. -- WHY? The largest port of entry in US HistoryI've tried to get the story on this...

As we approach the July deadline, Congress and the President will be wringing their hands over how many troops to withdraw and how fast. Our President, Senators, and Representatives in DC need to know that we don't want them to throw away the hard fought progress our troops have fought and died for over the last year! We're finally, belatedly, close to victory. Don't let politics throw it away. I use www.congress.org but there are other sites that do the same thing. Find one you like. Free account creation. Then in just a few clicks you can send a single...

President Barack Obama has been in campaign mode the past couple of days in Virginia, California, and Nevada. No major contender for the Republican nomination for President of the United States has officially announced their candidacy. And now we have a President who is actively campaigning already. This is what he loves to do: Campaign because this is what he's good at. Read more here at http://national-spotlight.com/2011/04/22/surprise-surprise-obama-is-already-in-campaign-mode/

A HIGH LEVEL OF PISSEDTIVITY!!!!!!!!!! I would say. I was not surprised when I saw that the 121st Signal Battalion Of the 1st Infantry Division was dissbanned over-seas. With the frantinizing of the Officer's and Enlisted soilders threw all the ranks, the widespread drug use and GOD only knows what else.

One of the highlights of the state dinner was a performance by Lang Lang, a Chinese pianist who has been a sensation in music circles. Mr. Lang played a duet with the American jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, then a haunting traditional Chinese melody called “My Motherland.” In China, it turns out, “My Motherland” is better known as the theme from the film “Battle on Shangganling Mountain,” a 1956 Chinese classic about a Korean War battle in which a vastly outnumbered band of Chinese soldiers held off American and United Nations forces for 42 days. If, in retrospect, “My Motherland” might...

In the Republican Party, the fracture over issues concerning homosexual individuals revealed itself more clearly in the vote for repeal of the 17-year-old "don't ask, don't tell" policy that prevented gays from serving openly in the military.

Sorry if I'm not allowed to post this sort of thread, but I'd rather ask direct questions than interpret answers to other questions an apply them to my own. I'm from the UK and for school work over the holidays I've got to find and explain/counter arguments for and against a political issue from another country, and I know that healthcare reform is a big one in America at the moment so I picked the easy one. I've had good experiences with our NHS, and without it I would either be dead or my family would be deeply in debt...

This is a question worth asking and the answer is the most poignant and effective one I have heard yet. It's so simple a democrat can understand it. Is Mitt Romney responsible for Obamacare and the current state of the Massachusetts Health Care system? http://bit.ly/dK4EES

Have you really looked at what our taxes go to? I found most of the things we are being taxed on are things that don't really have an association directly to the normal citizen. They need to do 2 things maintain roads and security. As far as this foreclosure issue and tie it up with these stimulus deals and corporate assistance money you'd wonder why it won't work. Well I tell you why things like this won't work. We are still in debt up past our foreheads. The stimulus made more debit for us.

http://www.josiegallows.com/2010/11/an-open-letter-to-the-young-left/ A conservative views entry discussing the dynamics between "Liberalism" and "Islam," in their fundamental and most popular forms, and how they essentially can not co-exist with the essentially Libertine basis of American Freedom. Further humor is provided with a tongue planted firmly in cheek. Share your thoughts, share the piece if you like it.

Recent unsettling revelations would indicate that, more and more, the US Chamber of Commerce is working for foreign nationals and corporations. Big business has been sending American jobs to other nations for a long time. Our current Congress has tried several measures to stop the bleeding and to bring some of those jobs back to Americans.

Ladies and gentlemen, My friend Dave and I, after spending a number of years reading posts have decided to finally start our own blod. I hope you will stop by and give us your feedback. http://downrightright.blogspot.com/ Andrew

Does anything convey the power, the austere dignity and awesome responsibility of the stewards of American democracy like the bike helmet? Why, there’s Ray LaHood, secretary of transportation taking part in a photo op wearing a sleek silver and blue helmet. I dunno about you, but the sight of the late-middle-aged secretary of a multi-billion-dollar cabinet department with his noggin encased in foam and shiny plastic is reassuring to me. Here’s a man who gets it, who’s going to spend my tax dollars not to improve the highway system to facilitate the movement of goods and citizens, but to construct...

One of the worst presidents in American hostory was elected in 2008. Barak Hussein Obama. Nothing would be sweeter than a rematch in 2012. McCain/Palin would slaughter Obama/Biden in 2012. We would have a bright red map on election day and the dems would be in tears. My mouth waters at the thought of all the furious democrats. They would get to watch just about all of what Hussein did reversed. I'd thoroughly enjoy every minute of it. No more socialist Obamacare and no more socialist agenda. We would go back to the days of individualism and hard work which...

With their numbers approaching 100,000 as a consequence of the troop buildup ordered by President Obama in December, U.S. troops now account for about two-thirds of the NATO force in Afghanistan. And American casualty rates are commensurate with that dominance, making up more than two-thirds of July's Western military fatalities, according to figures provided by icasualties.com, an independent website. With NATO allies distancing themselves from the notion of an open-ended stay in Afghanistan, the American aspect of the war comes increasingly to the fore.

And then there is Iran. Media coverage clearly points to the increasing likelihood of a U.S.-Israel offensive war against Iran. Do Americans want war with Iran? Can their economy stand what will be another unending war? Do 300 million Americans want to take on 1.4 billion Muslims who will be at least temporarily united after Washington and Israel start a war on Iran? Do these same Americans really want the violence in their towns and cities that Iran will sponsor after it is attacked? Can Americans trust their generals to put U.S. interests first after seeing General Petraeus kiss the...

I deposit the Risk into the account of a dummy finance company for management, called the republican party. Then, I deposit the damage into the account of a dummy corporation for control, called the democratic party. I leave all the bible belt religions as spoilers, or third parties; putting them down as department store chains. To stave off the profit into the mints money burning facility, to insure that the money is worthless in terms of pragmatic value, and is only practical believed values. And the Black market is pimped as bad but, even losing even your kindeys in a...

They’re still around. Being funded in Afghanistan by the State Department (that would be President Obama’s State Department), as a matter of fact. After private Blackwater contractors opened fire in Iraq and killed 14 civilians in September 2007, Obama jumped on it. He went so far as to say his fixes for Blackwater specifically were the the toughest reforms of any Presidential candidate.

Let us start it with a story. There are a few fishmen arounding the stew which some fish living in. All of a sudden, a huge leak was found at bottom of the stew, then how could those fishmen want to do? The first plot model——Would those fishmen organize to repair that huge leak, or all of them just choose to overlook the crisis without any measures? It is obviously that the former one is a fairy-tale, only if they already have a contract to prevent the resources losing which can ensure to maximize the team value, but the most...

Not that Yours Truly is any big fan of Lady Ga Ga; her music is insipid, and her videos plush on the outside and empty on the inside. A Bananarama for the times. My pre-teen daughters love her, of course. (No, they are not allowed to watch the videos!) They seem to know exactly when she’s gonna pop out of the minivan radio, and they sing along all girlie-like, slightly off key, their bodies moving, big smiles on their faces. OK, OK, I might tap along a little bit on the gas pedal, but it is truly an involuntary action....

OK,, I have a pretty good selection of firearms, Ak47's, Bolt guns, .22's, 30-30's, shotguns, several good pistols and a gun safe. (ammo for all) But I don't have a AK74. Are there known reliable models out of the box?(the ammo is pretty cheap now)I've even heard of some of the cheaper models key-holing.I have been told that Century builds are hit/miss, and Saiga's have that funny trigger. For under $600 bucks,, (no I don't want an AR) what model AK74 is available?(PS,, I love AR's, but I have been told that as long as you have an Armorer, go...

I know there is a lot of speculation on what will happen in the next few years, but I would really like to know if anyone has a real good sense of what will be going on in a few years. I would like to be prepared, but don't want to over prepare. Is there a real good sense of what is coming in the next few years? I have the ammunition I need, but is it really necessary to stockpile food. Just curious as to what other here are doing. Thanks

What's up America? Let me start off by saying I look good...damn good in that picture. I mean look at me...I got my arm out and everything. I should have been a running back or something. Saw a post today from someone who was an Obama supporter but who now regrets that support very much and is slowly but surely becoming educated and aware of the deception that was perpetrated to get Obambi into power. Met a table full of people at the Tea Party Nation convention banquet who were in the Tea Party movement but who had never heard of Free Republic (and of course, recommended FR to them all). Wondering if those who may be new to FR from either of these domains might want to post some comments.

U.S. lawmakers are toughening their stance on Iran’s energy industry with new economic penalties, but experts doubt the Islamic regime will pay much attention and is more likely to open the doors even wider to other players eager to replace fleeing investors. Long on Congress’ radar screen, Iran is being targeted by two bills: The Senate’s Dodd-Shelby Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act passed in late January; and the House’s Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act approved in December. The bottom line is these bills, once signed into law by President Obama, will pursue financial institutions and businesses that do...

I have just fully gotten my account started on this site. I have read Free Republic for a few years now. But I believe it is important to get the message of what the Republic is out to all. I am retired from the US NAVY, Dad to four, grand-dad to eight, Married to Sharon since 1983. I have survived cancer. I lost my left kidney to it this past September. Conservative almost to a fault as I was brought up as a liberal democrat. Mom was a teacher and Dad was a telephone lineman(IBEW). Voted for a Democrat for...

One nagging question that the industrial world has been asking itself since the discovery of the first oil well is what happens when the wells begin to run dry. The answer is relatively simple to imagine. We had a dry run, so to speak, when Dubai’s economy tanked a few years ago. And although the causes of Dubai’s ills and ails were financial and not oil related, the drama which unfolded gave us a watered-down version of what might transpire if and when the oil wells stop producing. But before we run the Armageddon tape that the world will stop...

Will they let us in without a gun? that’s my biggest concern as we drive to the new Clark County Shooting Park at the northern end of Decatur. I ask my cohort whether we can borrow her brother’s pistol; but shortly the talk turns to how her mother got shot in the foot once in a family gun-handling accident—“blood spurted straight up!” I decide we’ll go gunless. Turns out yes, you’re welcome to go gunless. You can take a picnic. You can take a properly leashed dog. It’s a public park for the stouter-in-faith than I. There are RVs and...

A Yale freshman who called himself the Dauphin is believed to have terrorized his peers with death threats, ritualistic vandalism, and a hit and run accident. Among his rumored loot: Secret society video footage, which has since surfaced on YouTube. The video, uploaded by new YouTube user Dauphinish and caught first by IvyGate, looks like it could belong the vaunted secret society that counts three generations of Bushes as its members. Unfortunately, vaunted secret societies don't really have publicists, so it's hard to confirm. (Yalies, take a stab in comments?) There are gothic

The Tacoma News Tribune ran the comic strip "Jump Start" this Friday featuring a cop being shot less than a week after the cold-blooded murder of four Lakewood, WA police officers. The News Tribune pulled the strip today, but will begin running it again Monday. There was also a police shooting in Rochester, NY, where two officers were shot. Story here: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20091204/NEWS01/91204017/JumpStart-cartoon-sparks-controversy-in-Rochester I would say the news media just doesn't get it.

Why is every single thread that I log onto this day after Thanksgiving, have a picture of Mitt Romney, that then trashes him?? Does JimRob and this website condone the Palin trashers, and try to create a Mitt backlash, to trash him? Does this website wish to promote a Republican/Conservative candidate who has no real business experience, like our current loser-in-chief, Zer0? Mitt has problems, as do each and every Pubbie, Conservative, or RAT potential to lead this once great US! Back off on the hits to Romney, (or maybe do you see him as a threat, much like the...
