My daughter used to be a conservative until she went to college. It has been less than a year, and she's now using liberal talking points in all her political debates with me. Yesterday she sent me an article titled "The Treason of the Ruling Class" by Chris Hedges (I can't link it here due to a FreeRepublic's restriction). I have made it my mission now to try to research and provide my daughter with facts because she doesn't get them from the websites that she's visiting.
I have been reading FreeRepublic for years, but this is my first time posting. I'd appreciate it if you could please point me to resources that can help disprove the following claims:
1. "1,100 citizens are murdered by police every year, almost an unarmed." This claim is in stark contrast with what Tucker Carlson claimed a few days ago in the segment "Is America being torn apart by a total, complete but provable lie?"
2.(About our prison system) Lobbyists are "making sure these bodies remain in cages or are put back into cages soon after they are released."
3.Where do I go to find how much congressmen/women were worth before and after their tenure.
4. Our court system is "designed to railroad the poor into jails and prisons." I was wondering how this is being done. It seems like personal responsibility is not accounted for here.

I have pointed out her errors but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. She has become a true believer. What really hurts is my Grand children who are nearly grown have never been exposed to the truth.

As a criminal defense attorney in an urban area, you can advise your daughter that black males are treated much better in the court system than any other ethnic group. Juries in urban areas typically will not convict black defendants even if they are obviously guilty of crimes. Because black jurors will rarely convict black defendants, prosecutors are forced to plea-bargain cases down to virtually nothing. Virtually all of my black defendants from urban areas have criminal rap sheets that are a mile long before they finally end up serving substantial periods of time. In suburban and rural counties, where white juries routinely convict all defendants who should be convicted, white defendants receive very harsh punishment. A white drug dealer in a suburban county will receive a significant punishment as compared to a black to find it in an urban area, who will get multiple slapped on the wrist.
If you really want to cure your daughter of this politically correct propaganda, my suggestion is that you contact an urban Police Department and arrange for a ride-a-long with the police. Most police departments will allow citizens to ride with a police officer. Trust me, one night in your local urban area will open her eyes to what the police see, and what she has not seen In her young life.

Explain to her that most people killed by the cops are thugs. For instance George Floyd and what’s his name Brown. Thugs. If she’s old enough to remember St. Skittles, remind her that he also was a thug.

Sadly, a great many people, mostly men, are not fit to be on the streets with decent people. That’s just the way it is — they are predators. Explain to her that you do not want her to ever meet one of them and fall prey.

Dunno, but if she is claiming that all politicians are crooks she’ll get no argument from me.

People end up in prison because they are criminals. Poor or not, who cares so long as they are off the street.

Surprise she lasted that long. Alarmed that our Christian school has a class on social justice. Had big argument with the wife about it. Told my 7 year old son I’m sick of hearing about George Floyd and told it because no one cares about dead police. Of course my daughters soul is most important. Wife seems to think one can be liberal and a Christian. I think she doesn’t realize that many of these causes put the cause first and God second. Most of my Christian friends think corn holing is no greater sin than lying. I’m on the other extreme because I bloody well hate lgbt community
