  • What sort of civil disobedience is acceptable?

There is a lot of talk about civil disobedience regarding this healthcare bill. Folks have said they will refuse to purchase into it, thus breaking the law. A thought I had is, what about the 2010 census. What if we refuse to participate or under/over report our household numbers. If we refuse to obey the census law or just delay would that send a message?

You've got to listen to this audio. It's terrible what this woman went through - she clearly has a hard time doing what had to be done - but it's also a sign of why it's a good thing the second amendment allows Americans to defend themselves and their property. The burglar was probably stoned and "crazy." He might have done terrible things to the woman if she wouldn't have stopped him. This was the most obvious case of "self defense" if ever there was one. I’d call it a palate cleanser except that it’s too riveting and simply …...

China increased its bank reserve requirement yesterday by .5 percent to 8.5 percent in an attempt to siphon off excess liquidity. The move comes just after China's second quarter report put its GDP growth rate at 11.3 percent. While raising the reserve requirement is considered by many countries to be a very blunt monetary policy instrument, China's blistering economic growth warrants something stronger than simply raising interest rates to tighten credit. The central bank has even said that a 10 percent reserve requirement by the end of the year is not out of the question.
