Best News and Punditry on the Web

==============================

Grandmother thought she would take this pause before the first of the great presidential debates in this year of our Lord, to offer up those web sites that offer the quickest, wittiest, wisest comments, punditry and unbiased presentation of the political or cultural facts as are currently occurring.

We begin with the slickest, then onto those sites famous for “community blogging” onto the best Blog on the Internet as Grandmother currently envisions this new medium.

The BEST-The American Spectator

This site offers up only a few pundits for mental digestion. It features regular items such as “The Washington Prowler” and “Campaign Crawlers”. The best and most looked forward to feature is the infamous “Enemy of the Week”. This site has someone buried deep in the Kerry campaign and as such, offers tidbits not available to any other site.

Very Good-Rush Limbaugh’s site

Yes, we listen to him three hours every day but one can never have too much Rush Limbaugh. Besides, we might forget what he said just hours ago. While Rush is the master of talk radio, he also has a happening and hip web site. Check it out, ESPECIALLY if you missed his show.

Very Good-National Review Online

Some very good writers on this site such as Michael Novak, David Frum, Jonah Goldberg and my beloved Bill Buckley. Sometimes this site gets confusing with their headers and froufrou but check it out at least once a day for the best of the pundits.

Okay-Townhall.com

This site has too many pundits writing their wisdom. While Grandmother is a fan of pundits, imagining her own self to be a pundit of sorts, this site can confuse. Always check in at least once a day as this is one of the few sites that features my heroine, Ann Coulter.

The Drudge Report is in a class by itself, being the siren of the Internet. Check this site out at least once a day to keep abreast of the news before the lame stream media even hears about it.

There are two major sites that have what Grandmother calls “community blogging”.

FreeRepublic is the premier such site, Kaitlyn, and Grandmother hopes to see you posting right along with Grandmother someday. Better learn some basic HTML code as this site requires use of same to post. Oh, and better behave as the site is moderated, but with a fair and gentle hand.

Lucianne.com T

his site was started by Lucianne Goldberg who rose to fame during the Clinton Lewinsky scandal. Lucianne was the “publisher” with whom Linda Tripp was reportedly marketing her book. Which Linda Tripp has YET to write a book even though the Clinton slime machine continually asserted as the reason for her lifes.

This site is best for its listing of “Must Reads” and the quips below that draw Grandmother into the fray with unabashed curiosity. The site is heavily monitored though one can post without HTML code.

Scuttlebutt has it that Lucianne herself was once heavily involved with the FreeRepublic site but left in a huff. Seems Mrs. Goldberg wanted more control over the postings made by those wild and wooly Freepers. Posts to Lucianne.com are limited to 200 words, an insult as Grandmother sees it in that Bloggers are as knowledgeable as the big media being quoted. And they’ll pull your post in a NY minute, Kaitlyn. Still, check in with Lucianne every day as she does know how to cull out the best reads on the Net.

Finally, a Blog site worth notiing. Grandmother knows there are plenty of Blog sites, including this one, but for drop dead great investigation into the story, check out Captain’s Quarters

Should any readers have additional suggestions for web sites or Blogs of note, please drop Grandmother a line that we may check it out.

Pat Fish is a Delaware Blogger recently featured in the Delaware Coast Press' article on blogging. Her Blog is titled "The Kaitlyn Mae Book Blog". Don't let the name confuse you. For while she does direct her interesting commentary to her granddaughter who is only one year old, the punditry is aimed to obliquely point out how the decisions we make today affect our children of tomorrow.
