Here's what to expect from tonight's "debate" in St. Louis:
Candidate Kerry will lean heavily on the first 20% of the so-called Deulfer Report; the part that emphasizes that Saddam had no WMD in the run-up to the Iraqi War. He will continue in the "Bush Lied" vein, and will ignore the really important aspects of the Deulfer Report.
That last 80%, or so, is the part that outlines, in stark detail, the fraud of the United Nation's "Oil For Food" program. I know this section of the report will be ignored because none of the Democratic/Kerry enablers in the media -- The New York Times, L.A. Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, and all the alphabet networks -- have made any mention of the massive fraud and bribery in any of their lengthy front-page stories or in any of their "We know better than you" commentary.
What the report shows is that Saddam played the U.N. like a drum during the period Oil For Food was in place. He used oil vouchers, given to the very U.N. officials entrusted to ascertain that Saddam's oil revenues were used to purchase food and medicines for Iraqis, in order to circumvent the rules and bribe U.N. officials and high-level French, German, and Russian government office holders into allowing him to build palaces and buy missile technology and other weapons of war.
The President will point all this out, of course, during tonight's "debate", and will discredit Kerry's claims that he, Bush, lied. It is simple enough to do so; just hit Kerry with his own words, including statements as late as October and November of 2002 that Saddam's WMD were a threat to U.S. and global security.
Don't expect an unprepared Bush, as in the previous meeting. He will be on his game, and ready to answer whichever lies Kerry chooses to hit him with. He might, for once, even be able to pronounce nuclear, but I doubt it. No need wringing your hands and worrying about a weak showing, though the past three days every pundit or talking sock-puppet with a microphone has told you that Bush is finished if he doesn't excel, tonight.
Fact of the matter is, it is a miracle that President Bush isn't trailing the challenger by 20 points in the polls. We have suffered through an entire year of this "Bush Lied" bullshit from every card-carrying Democrat and from the media wing of the Democratic Party. The President has been portrayed in every negative light possible, substantive or not, and his goose should be cooked.
However strongly President Bush hits Kerry in St. Louis, tonight, the media wing has it's forgone conclusions, and the headlines are already written -- "Kerry Trounces Bush On The Lying Bastard's Record In Iraq". So be it; we'll hear little else than "Bush Lied" from now until election day, it's all they've got, they are desperate, and they are like cornered rats.
Hmmmm, rats rhymes with Democrats, never thought of that, before just now :-).
Nope, the "debate" won't matter, the opinion polls won't matter, whatever the President says or does between now and November 2 won't matter, either. The deciding factor, in my opinion, will be how many dead Democrats, convicted felons, and illegal aliens the Democrats can get to the polls on election day, but that's not really news, is it?
As bad as I hate to say this, it would almost be worth it to see Kerry elected. Hell, I've got a fairly secure bunker out here in the boonies, grow a lot of my own veggies and hen apples, and doubt Jonesboro, Arkansas is on the top ten list of terror targets; bring it on, to quote some French statesman or another. The media wing, if it has an ability to learn, might just learn to be careful of what they wish for.
