Just ignore them

Yesterday, a single 122mm rocket hit with precision a dining hall in at Forward Operating Base Marez, near Mosul in northern Iraq. It is estimated that 19 US troops were killed, as well as a number of civilian contractors and Iraqi forces.

This was the deadliest single attack in the Iraq war for US troops.

The radical Sunni group Ansar al-Sunnah, linked to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and hence al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack. 66 US soldiers were wounded as well in the attack.

The attack was a tragedy. It was planned and timed to do the most damage and kill the most people. The attack hit at lunch time, in the middle of the day, when the most troops would be present.

An even bigger tragedy, though, has been the reaction to the attack by those on the lunatic left. They continue to recklessly blame the US and the Bush administration for these attacks, and not the attackers themselves. They are the enablers. They are the reason the insurgency in Iraq continues. They give the terrorists in Iraq hope.

One would have to be a complete moron to side with the terrorists in Iraq. By no stretch of the imagination are these people freedom fighters. They are not fighting for the Iraqi people, they are not fighting against an unlawful occupation. They are fighting against democracy, against the Iraqi people, against freedom of religion, speech and the press. They are fighting against civilization itself.

Bush and Blair rightfully denounced the attacks and reaffirmed their committment to a democratic Iraq. By not allowing the terrorists to succeed in Iraq, terrorism can be defeated everywhere. The only way the terrorists will win in Iraq is if we let them. If we pull out. They cannot drain our economy, they cannot beat us militarily. They cannot win unless we let them, and we won't.

However, there are those in this country who just don't get it. Visit Daily Kos, and read how these lunatics fail to place the blame. I will not even link to that site anymore. It is run by fools. If you want to visit it, go ahead, see the idiocy that we nearly elected in November.

Actually, I take that back. That was disrespectful to Senator Kerry, he is not that insane. He was wrong for the country, but he knows where to place blame.

Attacks will increase before the elections, that is inevitable. The terrorists do not want the elections to take place, and are enabled every time a man like Kofi Annan makes a speech claiming that elections are not yet a good idea. Bush must insist that elections take place on time, and he must do whatever it takes to make sure the elections are secure.

This is war. We did chose to liberate the Iraqi people, but we did not chose the greater war on terror, and we did not chose to fight al Qaeda. They chose it, and we will finish it. Ignore the irrelevant, lunatic left-wingers who blame America first. Many more brave US servicemen and women will give their lives to win this war, and it is a great disrespect to them to even give these individuals a voice.

Ignore them, for they are irrelevant.

This is at least the third article I've read this month about the propensity of insurgents to target mess hall tents.

Terrorists know the tents are big, unarmored targets where hundredsof people congregate at predictable times during the day, and yet we persist in putting up these inviting targets in the center of camp...

Who is stupid?

Now will the libs say that we should be adding armor to mess tents? Seriously: Aren't George and Rummy about fed up with these two bit dust eaters and ready to do some Middle East house cleaning? Enough is enough!

I wish I knew what the answers were to protecting our troops, but I want to ask some of these critics: When did YOU get in front of the cameras and say we needed different tents/quarters/whatever?

I thought of this, too, when Brit Hume reported that, contrary to the reporter-created question that soldier asked Rumsfeld, 230 of his unit's 250 vehicles were armor-protected, and that within 24 hours so were the rest. Funny how that didn't get any coverage.

You cannot target a messhall with a rocket which has a range of over 5 miles.
