Yeah they can be a lo of fun if you just read the "Kerry will be inaugurated" threads. But AFAIC the comedy routines stop when they start cheering on the enemy for killing our soldiers and Marines. That's the time when I want to pull the pin on a grenade and lob it right into the middle of that stinking mass of human garbage.

I hear you. Thats why I love the DUFU's. I can laugh at their craziness without having to witness the sick horror that is DU. I come away from there feeling nauseated and depressed and terrified that they may sieze power someday.

How COULD they be having fun if they're being themselves? How dare they have fun while millions starve due to the draconian republican policies!! ;)

Statute of limitations.
Moyer already ruled on timely recount, and here Kerry will get slammed on his ruling, as well (if he had a bitch, he should have come forward before vote was certified).
This is window-dressing.
It will be thrown out on the basis that he missed his timeframe.
That is, if he decides to do anything other than file supporting little documents and constantly "threaten" to kick sand in Ohioans faces.

They did a poll once where they asked what they thought the fighters in Iraq were and about 85% called them freedom fighters.
I called them homicidal maniacs and they went nuts on me.

A war of the minds would much be welcome. So, why is it that DU bans anyone who disagrees with the leftist drivel rant?

They also like to post pictures of wounded Iraqi children and curse President Bush and say we are the ones wounding those kids.

That's they way I look at it. Two final words of advice, don't post of topics you get really hot about. The first time I registered I got kicked off at about 300 posting on the Iraq war. So I avoid this topic, as I cannot bring myself to restrain myself when posting to these people.
Second, it doesn't hurt if you can find something to agree with them about. Also, when you are disagreeing with them, you might identify with them, like "we liberals", or "we Democrats". I guess it's a lie, and I feel a little guilty about it. But then I'm pretending to be a DUmmie anyway, so I have to have some camouflage.

I don't put anybody on ignore. I just stop replying when I can no longer defend my position without outing myself as a "FREEPER troll". Of course, deciding where that is is the trick. It's best to be safe rather than sorry, at least until you're over 1000.

With you on that, deep cover for the better good of the general American population.
It's funny, because we all have liberal (ultra liberal?) friends, coworkers and family and if you stay away from certain topics, you can make it through some level of conversation. It is hard in today's environment, but you can get through to most of them at most levels. But being on DU and trying it out, this will be an interesting challenge/project.
You're serious, they ban folks for disagreeing too strongly? I mean trolls get ZOTted here, but I don't think they get 'thrown off' for disagreeing too strongly, do they? I've been on the site for about 9 months, a member for 3 of those.
I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

You're serious, they ban folks for disagreeing too strongly? Yes, they do. If you read their rules for posting you find that the owner(s) of the website bluntly say that the forum is only for people who are liberals and who agree with the leftwing viewpoint. Anyone who disagrees with the liberal agenda and posts his or her disagreement will be deprived of posting privileges.
I guess that's the result of the high minded "toleration" that the liberals are always bragging about.

It depends on what you're disagreeing about, and how you do it. For instance, I would say it is safe to say that the recount, or lawsuits, will never get JK in office as President, and that Democrats should spend their time on the next election. It would be risky, I think, to protest too strongly that GWB REALLY won.
You have to remember, the point is neither to blast them as they deserve, nor to try to win the argument. That would be impossible. The whole point, the only point that I can see, is to plant jsut that tiny seed that might actually bloom into a genuine thought on the part on one or two of them. Oh, and to make fools of them.

A personal note about pingee #500. Kjane is my most wonderful conservative daughter who lives in the very heart of liberalism, New York City. She had been reading the DU Funnies as I would forward the links to her.The wife and I are in NYC for Christmas and gave her a new laptop for Christmas. She was reading the latest thread on her new laptop, I was reading the thread on my laptop and we were having a wonderful discussion about you and the thread. She noticed people joining and wanted to get her own ping. She registered, emailed you to add, and bingo became somewhat famous. She is still sleeping and will be thrilled when whe awakes.
As an afterthought, she attended college and debated her various roomates, all staunch Democrats, to at least a draw on politics. I think she won. Kjane is a young 27 and will be voting conservative for many years.
Interesting. What kind of work does she do in NYC? kjane isn't by any chance a literary agent or work for a book publisher? Heh! Heh! In any event I'll send her a free copy of the DUFU book when it is published.

Book to you to. BTW, do you remember the date you went on the PING List? Just trying to figure the DUFU rate of growth. I do remember a lot of signups right around and just after the election.

This is typical. The Left always operates under a DoUble-standard, with no actual tolerance or acceptance.
Thanks for adding to my education re: DU. It will help if I do jump in. I'm liking the challenge. (Threading the needle, so to speak.)
