Sorry, S- that's not true. Imagine having all that Da Vinci Code like information rattling around in your head. Lots of extra room for faith and trust left unoccupied. Sad

Not really.

Studying biblical prophecy has brought many to christ. Christ used prophecy to prove He was who He said he was. God is INTO prophecy.

Granted one could take an unbalanced perspective and dream about the 'Rapture' (a doctrine with not much scripture to back it up) all the time and thus have their heads so far in the clouds they are no earthly good .... to quote an old phrase.

Just because someone follows Christs admonition to know the times one finds oneself in ... does not mean they are a prophecy nut.

I agree in trying to predict the future by prophecy you are at best guessing but in order to be a true prophet your predictions have to come true first.

"Some have elevated Prophecy to the status of Idolotry." Exactly, right Brother!

FYI, the gift most important according to Paul was the gift of prophecy. Where most people go wrong is when they define the "gift of prophecy"

In today's New Testament terms the "gift of prophecy" is not to interpret the times, pick the date,or predict future events in God's plan. Rather the "gift of prophecy" must instead be defined as the ability to love and encourage other Christian's to become more like Jesus the Messiah. We are to be about His business 24/7/365!

Ismael, unfortunately (from the Moslem point of view) was displaced from his status as First Born by Isaac because his mother was only a servant and not a true wife as was Sarah.

I thought (from the Muslim point of view) Ismael was the one Abraham attempted to sacrifice, and thus the chosen one. They believe our Issac was really Ishmael.

Anyway, if the prophecy says Abraham's descendants will inherit a country, and I've not really researched that, what country did Ishmael get? I remains unresolved.

"Abraham sired Ishmael but that was only of the flesh. "

Which is usually good for the throne of England, if I'm not mistaken...

Of course, English monarchy rules of ascencion obviously weren't in place the time of Abraham! Thanks for the reply!

"God also slighted the first born in the case of Easau and Jacob."

How so? (Edu-ma-cate me!)

I just thought it was good timing to post this with the Popes death. Usually I say I can spell and it's my typing that is lacking. "Prophecies"

The Scots-Irish are cousins of the Jews. What do you mean cousins?

Well, I spelled Esau wrong to start.

It's one of the oddest tales in the Bible I think. You can read about it in chaps. 25,27, 28, 32, 33, and 36 of Genisis.

Archaeology has continued to prove the Bible to be accurate.

The Jews are incorrect that Christ was not the Messiah. The Jews misinterpret Scripture and believe in a militant messiah, which is why they reject Christ.

That said, I believe it is Romans 11 that makes it clear that all Jews will eventually come to know Christ as their savior and be saved. It probably won't happen until Christ returns and they realize yes, he is the Savior coming back with his militant second coming. But, they will all eventually accept Him.

Is there some connection with this theory to the flag of Ireland? The flag with the harp on it.

Skip the begats? Oh, those matter just as much as the rest of Scripture. God put them there for a reason to show us the amazing nature of how he has displayed his love and mercy throughout time and all generations. They are there to show us how much God values individual people in his plan of redemption.

We don't need to spend a lot of time on those sections, though perhaps we should. My pastor did a sermon once on one of these genealogical sections and his insight was amazing. He got so much out of that little section that we just pass over too often.

But, they aren't something we should just dismiss.

Thanks for the heads-up grizzfan.

1. I am a young Christian. Was raised in a southern Baptist church when I was a kid, but when I hit puberty I started drinking, smoking, doing drugs, chasing girls. Just now came to the Lord.

2. I do not believe in the Rapture. I've not seen the Rapture mentioned in the Bible even once. Jesus told His followers that as they persecuted Him so we would also be persecuted. Put another way, the servant cannot escape the fate of his master. I am careful to follow sound doctrine. If it's not in the Bible, I don't believe in it.

3. While Israel will have peace for the first 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation, I would think that we must first have the one-world gov't and the cashless society (which will bring about everyone getting the mark of th beast).

I'm watching for some type of cataclysmic event which will bring down the US as a world power. There will then be some person who will have all the answers who will solve all the worlds problems. When we see this, we will know. I will know.

BTW, worrying about the end times is useless. God has a plan and it will be followed. Instead of worrying about when the world will end, each Christian should be worrying about, "What would God have me do today?"

I see God's hand intervene in my life everyday. For example, I forgot to set my clocks forward last night. I woke up an hour early this morning which is actually on time. God woke me this morning so I wouldn't be late for church.

Even as a young Christan I see God's hand working in my life. He works like this in everyone's life, even the unbelievers.

TRUST in the Lord. OBEY Him and He will bless you. BTW, believing is easy. It's the OBEYING part that's difficult.

From the Life Application Study Bible (New American Standard translation) by Zondernan notes:

We should not expect our obedience to God to be easy or to come naturally. (See Genesis 22:3)
