Did someone make a movie based on "One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich"?
I'd be curious to see it.
A book missed by this this thread is "Darkness at Noon."

he was sorry that anyone was upset
Typical non-apology apology.
Always sorry someone got upset, sorry they were caught, sorry they were misunderstood, but never sorry for what they did/said.

Obama could learn a thing or two from DurbinOsama could learn a thing or two from Sen. Turban.

I had not seen your post 35 when I did my post 67. Honest.
To: Dashing Dasher
That's right!
When I heard Durbin say what he said I literally couldn't believe my ears. The dems can be pretty stupid in their rhetoric, but they tend to be slick when it comes to politics, and what Durbin said was a political disaster.
Who in the hell would join the cause of sympathizing the plight terrorist prisoners?!? This would even be a tough sell in San Fransico. Politicians never do or say anything without calculating the effect or results (the politicians on our side do the same), I just wonder what in the hell was he thinking. This is a lose+lose for them.

when my oldest daughter went up to N.W. Mo. State on a pre enrollment visit (it is now called Truman university) we toured the cafateria and on the counter being stocked for the school year to begin was a box of "meat"
it was labeled Grade D but edible. i wonder if the scum at gitmo would rather dine on what was basically an unknown food group.
When I was in prison, the kitchen once had barbequed turkey legs. As turkey legs go, these were Hugh! Guys with connections to the guys in the kitchen had them bring back one or two for them so they could snack later while watching TV or playing cards. They were very good.
Sometime after lunch I was smoking a cigarette out side the unit with a buddy and noticed the trashcans were full. A friend of mine (a former SEAL Team One member named Peter Van Flagg) had the assignment of keeping the trashcans empty. He was inside watching a movie so I decided what the hell, I'll go empty them. My smoking buddy went with me.
When we got to the dumpsters behind the kitchen, we saw the boxes the turkey legs came in. They were labeled in big red letters, "For Zoo Use Only. Not For Human Consumption."
With Howard Dean the dems have formally graduated from "disarray" to "debacle", with "irretrievable disaster" just around the corner.

As a daughter of a Holocaust Survivor and a trained historian, I know this camp is not unlike Bergen Belsen. On a quick scan through the thread, I see I'm not the only one who picked up on this. Trained historian, my butt.
Oh wait ... if educated in the ultra liberal system ... I see. Yeah, perhaps it does make sense ... maybe.
Not!

I am currently reading "The Gulag Archipelago" by Solzhenitsyn. The comparison is not only ridiculous, it is absolutely disgusting. Same with the Holocaust one, but that goes without saying.
To: sporkgoddess
Why are you reading that book? It must be a class assignment(lol).Been there, done that(but it was a long time ago.)
