When I meet Mary Matalin for lunch to discuss the DUmmie FUnnies book (with CD-ROM insert for related comix stories) deal, I think I will bring along a menu of items fed to the Gitmo prisoners and order from that since I can be assured it will be first rate food. And to think that when I was a high school student I had to suffer thru Sloppy Joes and hot dogs of questionable origins. If I had been served the Gitmo prisoner diet, I would have thought my school was celebrating something special. Actually, late today Dickie Durbin issued a lame-*ss "apology." He said he was sorry that anyone was upset because they "misunderstood" what he was saying. There wasn't any subtlety or metaphor, however, in what Durbin said. So that "apology" will not stop the onslaught.

As usual, the DUmmies have cheerfully thrown themselves in front of a political juggernaut and will shortly be crushed under its wheels. When a DUmmie gets politically crushed, does he have a slight doubt like Wile E. Coyote's sign that says, "Why am I doing this?"

Nah. DUmmies don't have the introspection of a rather dim cartoon character.

Today the DUmmies are NOT funny. I'm angry and I'm tired of the silence of the majority of Republican senators. I've emailed Inhofe telling him I must conclude he agrees with Durbin since he's made no comment rebuking him. I also told him Coburn would have my support and asked him if he wanted mine.

I saw too many of my friends and classmates injured or killed in Viet Nam because our government didn't give them the support they needed and deserved. I'm older now and I've found my voice. I refuse to let it happen again.

when my oldest daughter went up to N.W. Mo. State on a pre enrollment visit (it is now called Truman university)
we toured the cafateria and on the counter being stocked for the school year to begin was a box of "meat"

it was labeled Grade D but edible.
