Allstate Insurance unwittingly spawns anti-same-sex marriage martyr

oronto-- On the same day Canada’s historic same-sex marriage bill passed through the House of Commons, thousands of emails were pouring into Allstate Insurance Company over conservative columnist J. Matt Barber.

Allstate may have unwittingly spawned an anti-same-sex-marriage martyr in the spunky J. Matt Barber.

Barber, a former employee of the insurance giant was fired--allegedly terminated, all for writing a column posted on several websites that was critical of same sex marriage and espousing his signature Christian beliefs.

As WorldNetDaily first reported, J. Matt Barber was a manager in Allstate’s Corporate Security Division, its investigative arm, at the Fortune 100 company headquarters in Northbrook, Ill.

That was Barber’s five-year long day job. In addition to beating the drums as a Chicago jazz musician, Barber writes columns published on the Internet, on his own time. Canadafreepress.com has been proud to carry Barber’s columns since November 2004.

The kind of guy who throws as much punch into his columns as he does in the ring as a professional heavyweight boxer, Barber takes his job as a web commentator seriously. He always meets his deadlines, and judging from the flood of letters we receive, Barber has attracted an impressive readership both here and in the U.S.

Sounds like if he was so inclined he could slap a wrongful termination lawsuit on Allcrap.

Diversity is a word that has taken on an identity of it's own. It doesn't mean all inclusiveness. In fact it excludes anyone who has faith. What a shame. How do we help this family?

Divest from All-State. Make sure your friends know of this situation, and write them a courteous but firm letter expressing your opinion on the matter. This is not a cause for all out war, and there isn't that much you can do beyond shaming the company into doing what's right. So just make sure your friends and family know what Allstate did and why, and hopefully that will be enough.

I think he's considering it, if he hasn't already launched one.

Yea, now after reading the full article it looks like he has already started the process of suing allcrap. Good for him. I emailed allcrap and told them how wonderful it is that they are firing Christians now. I don't have insurance with them but cant see any reason for considering them in the future. They don't like Christians then I guess they wouldn't want me as a customer.

I just emailed them, too. Told them they would not be 'in good hands' in Kentucky once this really gets out.

So glad to have found this info! JK
