Catch 22 for Wilson/Plame
GLH3IL | 07/20/2005 | GLH3IL

Posted on 07/20/2005 7:26:28 AM PDT by GLH3IL

Despite the nonsensical rumblings of FORMER intelligence analysts, Miss Plame is NOT a covert agent as defined by the Intelligence Identities Protection Act. Thus her alleged illegal outing was no such thing because there was no law broken. There was no harm to her or her husband, indeed the outing has helped Mr. Wilson's book sales and public appearance fees. Wilson is a liar...his wife is a liar..Wilson deliberately misrepresented his findings in the oped piece he wrote challenging Bush's SOTUS in order to politically damage George Bush for his pals in the Democratic Party. Perhaps to gain favor for a cabinet or advisor post?

Since Wilson chose to do battle in a political arena, he can't now claim that he's being unfairly treated. Once you start down the path of political warfare you can't complain when your lies and arguuments are parsed and exposed to the light of public scrutiny.

Since Wilson drug his wife into this political battle or she gleefully hopped in by volunteering her husband to a job he was not qualified to handle, it matters little. They conspired to engage in politically motivated behavior to damage Bush. They can not now claim that they are immune from political retribution for their lies based upon a law that is not applicable.

The MSM continues to push this phony story. It isn't a Catch 22 anymore, it's a Catch 44.

The question no one is really focusing on is why Judith Miller is sitting in jail?

Legally, if Plame was not covert there's no outing, and Miller's source is in no danger of being prosecuted for an outing...So why is Miller sitting in jail?

As discussed on another thread, some CIA people have reason to be unhappy with and fearful of the Bush Administration. Their jobs are at stake.

Sounds to me that Wilson is a Deep Throat wannabe. More treachery from demo CIA agents. Time to clean house.

The prosecutor has stated that he is interested in conversations that Miller had with a source on other subjects besides the exposure of Plame's CIA identity. In other words, did the source pass other classified information to Miller?

Perhaps the special prosecutor knows more about what he's trying to find out than we know about...

Could they be trying to root out a conspiracy between members of the MSM and an unknown group of foreign operatives to undermine the U.S. War on Terror?

Right, the big disguise here is the MSM&D trying to get everybody to think this is about Rove/Plame when it's actually about something else.

Nobody really knows, even those that have sat in front of the GJ.

This is the first time I've read that the prosecutor wants to talk with Miller about other things besides Plame. Where did you read that, this is interesting.

Fox news reported it on the day before Cooper testified. They repeated it several times and it was repeated in several articles, but you can imagine, it was only in a very few. But it's true, the prosecutor wants to know about what other subjects Cooper and Miller discussed with one of their sources. That's why turning over the notes that named Rove as a source was not enough, the notes about Plame weren't what he was after.

Judith Miller's contempt of court is what has her in jail.  It 'technically' has nothing to do with Plame being a covert agent, a pencil pushing analyst or a transvestite.  She is in jail for not answering a legally asked question. If she refuse to tell the judge the color of her eyes she can be held in contempt. It has nothing at all to do with whether or not somebody else did something illegal.

Cooper said that Rove, Libby and several other people were sources for his knowledge of Valerie Plame.  Isn't it funny that to the press he was quick to identify Rove and Libby, but not the others?  His other sources must be Hillary and Schumer.

But conversations about Valerie Plame's identity was not what the prosecutor wanted to know about. He wanted to know what other subjects were discussed. That is why Miller is in jail.

It doesn't matter what the judge was looking for.  My post to "sirchtruth" was in response to his belief that since Judith Miller is in jail, Plame 'must' have been a secret agent and Rove 'must' have outed her. That's just simply not a true supposition.  Plame may have been a secret agent. Rove may have outed her. But neither of those circumstances has anything to do with contempt charges.  They are simply the reasons she managed to find herself on the witness stand. Her failure to testify is what landed her in jail. Not the status of Plame or Rove or whatever else the prosecutor was looking for.

Right, I wasn't disagreeing with you, just expanding on what you said.

WaPO jsut outed this
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/20/AR2005072002517_pf.html

*snip*
A classified State Department memorandum central to a federal leak investigation contained information about CIA officer Valerie Plame in a paragraph marked "(S)" for secret, a clear indication that any Bush administration official who read it should have been aware the information was classified, according to current and former government officials.
*snip*

also this tidbit is not good
*snip*
"It records that the INR analyst at the meeting opposed Wilson's trip to Niger because the State Department, through other inquiries, already had disproved the allegation that Iraq was seeking uranium from Niger."
*snip*
