The Response To "Looters"
Bob Parks: Black & Right ^ | 9/5/05 | Bob Parks

I’m also fascinated by those who say Bush should have foreseen the catastrophe and should have had the National Guard in place to provide security. If President Bush had the National Guard in place minutes after the storm had left to protect against looting, those very critics who say he was being racist assuming those black people would resort to such despicable behavior.

Bob Parks is on the money every single time when it comes to this liberal reverse-racism. If only there were more like him.

The national guard is under the command of the Governor first, then the President. It is her state and her troops, she should have made the call, not Bush.

If Bush had acted anyway outside the law in bringing national guard in, the democrats would be whining about that.

The present criticism of President Bush is transparent, political, and expected from a mainstream media that’s losing viewership by the day.

This is worth repeating.

Bob, answered clearly, every last liberal "charge", and did so VERY well. Kudos! And thank you, Angel.

I like your tagline! Hell, for all DC's problems, even Mayor Williams is always out there in the thick of it whenever something happens in DC. When there's a blizzard, he walking the streets with a snow shovel and camera, reminding viewers to check on the elderly, telling people to move their cars out of plow lanes and to get indoors.

I stole the tagline from a FR post the other day--cannot remember who had it in a post--but I liked it!

Same here. I'm going through the rest of his blog now. Lots of good stuff, and he's right on the money on every issue in his blog I've read through so far.

Bears repeating!

The national guard is under the command of the Governor first, then the President. It is her state and her troops, she should have made the call, not Bush.

I've been giving this some thought ever since it was brought up on a different thread. If conditions were bad enough I could see myself looting such items as foodstuffs which didn't need cooking or diapers if I had a child or a change of clothing or sturdy shoes. I also know I would do my best to leave a note with my name and a promise to pay once things settled down. (I'd leave my address and phone number too if I thought they'd still be there.) I'd also make good on my promise to pay.

To me, there's a difference in taking things that will enable me to survive as opposed to stealing non-essential items. How are stolen 10 pairs of jeans or jewelry or antiques, etc. going to keep me and mine fed and in dry, untorn clothing? Has a black market already sprung up? What possible use does stolen jewelry have in order to keep my family fed. If I did have stolen jewelry wouldn't that make me a target for looters?

I look around my little town and I can't begin to imagine lawlessness as the law of the land. I'd open my home in a heartbeat to those whose homes had been destroyed. I'd hope we could work together to make life semi-bearable until help arrived. Heck, even our meanest neighbour would do the same...something about United we stand, divided we fall.
