Hate Thy Enemy! (DU on Mother's by the side of the Road and Freepers)
Adam's Web ^ | 09/05/2005 | Adam Graham

Speaking of Virtue Magazine, their blog had a post about a confession of a DUer who saw a woman with a baby standing by the side of the road but sped by when she saw a "W" sticker:

I feel really bad as a human being. That child is not responsible for their parent's belief system. They are innocent and do not deserve to be out in the heat. (It is warm but not so bad that they would even break a sweat)

BIG FAT RATONALIZATION ALERT!

I try not to punish people for what they believe. On the other hand, so many hateful thoughts went through my head. I wondered how a person could see what was going on in NO and still have one of those awful stickers on their car. How could they support an awful excuse for a human being that has let our country down and is letting Americans die after they have made it through the storm? How can someone be so blind and so stupid?

I thought that if she loves * so much, maybe he would come along and help her the same way he is rescuing all of those poor people in the weather stricken part of our country. Let's see what her hero can do for her.

I never did go back. I was so upset with that sticker and with the fact that someone would support an idiot who is so clearly running our country into the ground.

Now, I'm not particularly cheesed at the woman who wrote this. It was really a confession and she said she felt bad about it. I mean that's more than I can say for jerks who'd see it, drive by, and think nothing of it. What happened afterwards was series of vile "You Go Girl" responses:

I’ve never been put in that position… but I can say that everytime I see one of those stickers, the hate that fills my mind is almost embarrassing. People I don’t even know, and I see that sticker and all of a sudden I hate their guts.

I would have done the same thing except I would have pulled over and asked her if she supported Bush. If she said yeah, then I would have said, “Then I’m only going to offer your baby a ride, not you.” And if she refused, I’d tell her that she could call her little hero in the White House for help then. Then I’d speed off, leaving her behind.

-I see in these statements something very sick and disturbing. The idea is that they believe this woman is an enemy and worthy of not receiving any help. The woman didn't feel bad about not giving the mother a ride, just the baby. She's not their neighbor, she not worth any decency or compassion. Compassion is only for those you sympathize with.

Of course, the most vitriolic post was directed at Freepers from meldhead:

Please put "Free Republic" bumper stickers on your car. That way, if I ever personally see one of you in a situation like this, I can swerve to hit you. I wouldn't care if you are holding a baby or not, you poison everything you touch and are not worthy of the air you breathe.

You are sick, sick, evil people and you deserve whatever the hell happens to you. You are right about one thing, though, I have no compassion. At least not for your kind. All my compassion is being spent on the HUMANS (something you are not) your kind have purposefully set out to maim, kill, and destroy. Everything has its limits, even compassion. You reap what you sow. Enjoy your harvest.

Yeah, this from the anti-violence left! I see the seeds of Civil War as I learn that I and my fellow Conservatives are now subhuman to the left.

Weird.

Sure, when I see a Kerry/leftist sticker I think: "Loser."

But I wouldn't refuse to help someone in need just because they're a Democrat.

I was taught that liberals just sat around loving everybody. What a big lie.

I could not help but ask...who is the sick one here?

For any DU'ers...Here are the true lessons of Katrina

Read them and learn...or continue with your clearly evidenced and expressed mental disorders.

More people are killed by cars with KERRY/EDWARDS stickers than any other.

Kinda like Islam. Liberals love you if you believe in Liberalism or if you have recently converted. If you are a non-believer, an infidel, it is okay to destroy you because you are worthless.

And now our next segment, "What I learned from DU today."

It's okay to exhibit immature and selfish behavior, so long you "feel bad" about it later.

"That is the sign of a true Democrat! You didn't help someone in their time of need, and it bothers you! To me, that is a sign of someone who heart is in the right place!"

I can forgive her acting like a jerk, I just can't excuse it. That's what DUers are doing.

These people are truly animals.

I couldn't agree more. Comlib baby killers have a special place in hell, I'm sure of it. What real conservative would be capable of doing the same thing?

I have a friend that had a bumper sticker on a great looking VW Passat that said.
"51% is not a mandate".
I casually said, "If that's true, then no-one should have listend to Bill Clinton for 8 years."
Next week the sticker was gone.
