When the media, politicians and "victims" scream, "somebody help!!!" Who do they think the "somebody" is?
Even if FEMA had water, meals, cots, tents, medical supplies etc., hovering overhead N.Orleans on 8/31 - who was the 'somebody' supposed to deliver it and under what conditions?
Oh yeah - that's right - THE MILITARY - so denigrated by the
media, politicians and folks unwilling to enlist in it.

People need to get this through their heads. "FEMA is a bureaucracy, nothing more, nothing less." It does not matter who is in the White House. Do not place your life in the hands of a bureaucracy.

I was thinking that the Superdome was more than 8 blocks from the Convention Center -- I saw on another post the address was 1500 Poydras -- the Convention Center is right on the river, so that's like 14-15 blocks. (mapquest is slow right now).
