With most of the finger pointing and wild accusations a thing of the past, New Orleans and the United States will have to find a way to rebuild the city and not repeat the mistakes of the past. It is very clear that new leadership will be needed to take over control of the emergency preparedness of the state, since several of the top officials in the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness are looking at jail time.
These folks are on trial for such crimes as fraud, mismanagement of federal funds and buying personal items with the cash from Uncle Sam. To me, this is really the most maddening part of the Katrina debacle, that the people who were charged with keeping the people of the State of Louisiana safe, let those people down.
