Who Elected President Bush (And Supports His Choice For Scotus)?
Captain's Quarters Blog Comment ^ | 11 October 2005 | msdl5

Who elected Bush?

Not Minnesota, not Michigan, not Wisconsin, not Maine, not Vermont, not New Hampshire, not Conneticut, not Massachusets, not New York, not Pennsylvania, not Delaware, not DC, not Illinois, not California, not Oregon, not Washington, not Maryland, not Hawaii.

Not one electoral vote from the land of Pundits and Bloggers except for Virginia's 13 electoral votes.

I suggest that Coulter, Lowry, Kristol, Krauthammer, Ingraham, Fund, J-Pod and the rest first do their jobs in their home states and/or the states of their youths. HELP GET A DAMN PRESIDENT ELECTED, then complain.

We don't want to hear another talk show host out of New York or DC claim that they got Bush elected. Maybe you energized the troops out here but we did the work. You reside in the land of zero, nada, nothing - no Electoral College votes.

This SCOTUS arguement is treating the rest of the Republicans thoughout the country who actually provied electoral college votes for The President the same way the Dems and the news media did after the 2004 election. Hicks, hayseeds, Jesus freaks, rednecks, NASCAR fools......

Many people in the states that actually provided Electoral College votes are at some level of support or at least wait and see over this nomination. The polls say so. Check MSNBC and Drudge.

Why would the people in "red states" want a Dukakis lefty like Miers

Upon what do you base your characterization that Miers is a "Dukakis lefty"?

Thumper, are you the famous psychoanalyst who said, "..If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all..?"

I suppose everyone forgets that Krystal endorsed, supported McCain all the way. I also suppose they forget that Buchanan ran against both Bush I and Bush II. Losers never forget! I know according to your dictum copied above that I should not say anything, but isn't it true, President Bush is unloved in the Beltway circuits?

"He hasnt done much for me in 5 years since the tax cut and WOT."

Bush cutting your taxes and keeping you alive through the WOT are the most important things he could have done for you and these provide benefits that are ongoing both to the economy and the security of the nation. We start sounding like liberals when we expect a president "to do for me" much more beyond lowering taxes and securing the nation. And I say this as someone pissed about the high spending and lax border control, so don't come back at me with "But don't you care about..." Yes I do care about those things, but I also recognize the important things Bush has done for this nation.

Quoting John F. Kennedy?

I suppose it's better than Gloria Steinem, Barbara Mikulski, Susan Faludi, and some of the other more heterodox allies the pro-Miers folks have linked arms with.

Well, if she gets on in time, I think we'll see how she and Roberts decide cases by next July, which means we can hold the GOP accountable in the midterms, good or bad.

Well, I'm from California, and voted for Arnold, so according to some, I shouldn't even be an American.

not likely. They'll be around long after january 20,2009.

Bush will just be another former president then.

GWB would not be in the white house without these 'elitists' and he knows it.

It's really incredible watching the GOP faithful eat their own. You're fanning the flames. It's fun to watch.

I voted for GW and think that there is nothing wrong at all with this nomination.

But, if you can come up with a better one, by all means do so, and I'll bet that no matter who this person is, there is something wrong with them.

Let's wait for the hearings as you suggest. Let's hear what SHE has to say. Lord knows I'm SICK TO DEATH of hearing what everyone else has to say.

In years past, when Democrats ran the show, there was hardly a word mentioned on who Clinton appointed. But because it's a Bush appointment, well!!! Can't have Bush appoint ANYONE, can we?

The Democrats have managed to stall, filibuster, and MSM has managed to question everything about anyone BUSH appoints to the point where even the brand of dental floss they use could be a reason why Bush goofed yet again, and this person is not a good candidate.

I wish everyone would put as much energy into bitching about everything a Democrat does with the public trust, who they appoint to SCOTUS, what treaties they signed undermining our sovereignty and violating our constitution.
If we need to be bitching, lets bitch at these republicans in office for not correcting the wrongs done by the Democrat's (and Republican rhino's) in the past. Let's fix law's and clarify them so it doesn't matter who is sitting on the bench, make them so any idiot sitting there CAN'T misinterpret them. A judge has one job. Uphold the law of the land, not create it. Let's take back the country, Restore our constitution, and put the Judicial system back in it's place.

Maybe you energized the troops out here but we did the work.

Last I checked, everyone gets one vote each. That means the @-hole who wrote this trash did no more than any one of the ppl he mocks.

Now comments on blogs end up in news/activism?

May as well. You guys hock up every slimey loogey spewed by some third-rate dogcatcher to trash Miers.

This guy has as much credibility as the shoe-polish-coiffed David Frum with his "unnamed sources."

Thanks, I voted for Bush twice.....and trust me, I live in the most blue of blue states that there is.

I was beginning to think my vote meant nothing and that I had no opinion. I'm glad there are others who think this to be idiotic too.

yep. Nothing is needed from you...except your praise and your donations.

If you're from a 'blue' state, no matter what you've done, you can't comment on this.

is it from him or from a reader of his blog?
---
Of course it's not from the Captain, he's a Minnesotan and has lots of opinions on Miers.

To attribute that comment to him would be like attributing to him the reader comment that Bush is a racist because he didn't nominate Janice R. Brown.

Most of the pro-Miers people never miss an opportunity to deceive. The DU types are desperate to see Miers confirmed.

LOLOLROTF, this is part of a long line of idiotic posts on this topic.

Most have their opinion, regardless of the facts or anyone else's right to have a differing opinion.

Tantrums R Us has become the tragicomedy of the right.

Please. Spare me the usual sinkspur relativism.

If a reader comment on a blog deserves its own thread in news / activism, then my shopping list should be breaking news

Why stop at chastising the blue-state conservatives for not winning their own states for President Bush? It seems we can go further by criticizing them for failing to vote conservatives from their blue states to the Senate. It seems this whole mess has more to do with RINO Senators from the elite blue states than with President Bush himself.
