To everyone who feels the need to cut the traitorous Congressman Murtha slack because he served in the Marine Corps, might I remind you that Lee Harvey Oswald did as well.

Tell that to the mothers and wives who lose soldiers today because the enemy was emboldened by Murtha's disgraceful actions.

And of course so did LtCol Oliver North. The two could not be more diametrically opposed.

Senator Joe McCarthy was a combat-experienced marine, too. Time for the left to cut him some slack.

I think the poster is trying to say that being a marine is no absolute guarantee of character or correct politics.
and he is right....even though, being a marine usually means someone at least once in their life had to prevail and has a fair amount of the right stuff....usually

Methinks Murtha is in big time trouble and went over to the lefty liberal dark side for CYA. He is the # uno hog for monies from the major defense contractors. I smell a rat in the wood work somewhere.
As per the Hill:
http://www.hillnews.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/101805/spending.html
"For the past three years, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), the ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, has been the No. 1 beneficiary of defense campaign donations in the House and has not fallen below No. 3 for Congress as a whole."

Note to ''Cut And Run'' Murtha -
Benedict Arnold fought in a war too - but that's not what he's remembered for.

Murtha's words will tend to comfort and embolden the terrorists, resulting in the deaths of more Marines.
You really don't dispute that, do you?

Really, Joesph McCarthy (AKA Tail Gunner Joe) was a WW 2 hero, the lefties have never considered his service to country and war record.

I think the poster is trying to say that being a marine is no absolute guarantee of character or correct politics.
Since when is a Marine blowing the President of the United States brains out analgous to another Marine exercising his right, whether you agree or do not agree with him, to speak out against the administration's Iraq strategy.
I totally disagree with Congressman Murtha but a Marine who has won a Bronze Star with Combat V 1966, Purple Heart 1966, Purple Heart, second award, 1966 among other medals has the right to state his position.
The poster could have stated his position with something other than an analogy between Murtha and Oswald.

I would never suggest that Murtha and Oswald had any similarity. That type smear is an affront to the Marines as well as to the Congressman.
I would suggest that it is entirely proper for former and current Marines to write both Murtha and the press and remind the Congressman what is the majority opinion of the Marines and tell him exactly what they think of him and his statement. I am not a Marine (served in the Army) so I will just remind him of what supporting the United States and confronting Islam means at this critical time.

Murtha is hastening the deaths of Marines with his demoralizing (to our Marines) foolishness. His two Purple Hearts give him no license to do that.

Wont't see these in the MSM. John Murtha, Jr. - Democrat - U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania. Implicated in the Abscam sting, in which FBI agents impersonating Arab businessmen offered bribes to political figures; Murtha was cited as an unindicted co-conspirator.
In April 1994, Murtha urged the Clinton administration not to use military force to stop the fighting in the former Yugoslavian republics.

Murtha served admirably as a Marine. You've got to be able to separate his service to the country then with his service to the country as a politician. As a marine, he did his duty above and beyond. As a politician his policies suck and should be mercilessly debunked.

you're being sorta emotional over this....
no one has claimed Murtha has no right to speak here that I'm aware of...
but while being a Marine is a good indicator of character, it is no guarantee
nothing wrong with pointing out exceptions for what they are...and Murtha's politics are an exception to the good Marine logic
a lifetime 33 ACY rating...not good
George McGovern was a WWII pilot semi-hero
John Glenn...liberal
David Dinkins..mega liberal
Hussein Aidid (son of warlord)
Art Buchwald ...nuff said
exceptions are uncommon but they do exist
