The Census found great apes in 37 states – including several, such as Connecticut, where they were not previously known to exist.

Fascinating. Perhaps they commute to the Bronx.

We ignore our extraordinary status at our peril. Lowering that for any of us (as happened to the Jews, blacks, or the unborn) lowers it for ALL of us. Animals are ultimately *things* and not *people.* To pretend that things are people ultimately leads to pretending that people are things.
