No uglier than the lines to see Star Wars...

I suggest everyone get in touch with their inner Jedi and prepare to go VERY early - perhaps even the night before. If they are there with their children, I would hope that they would behave. And if they don't, it will be broadcast to the world. The same applies to us of course - and we must be sure to remember that if this is truly about values, then we must act as Christ would act - with love.

I was thinking of the Star Wars lines!

The history of the Easter Egg Roll is pretty interesting.

It's really an American event, like the lighting of the Christmas Tree or dropping the ball in Times Square. It's not a religious event. Even if I lived close enough to attend, I doubt I would. But the fact that they are planning to camp out and wear t-shirts shows that they are there not to take part in an American tradition but to make a political statement -- perhaps at the expense of children.

If they want their families to participate in this great American family tradition, then they should dress their children in their pretty outfits (or parkas or rain slickers -- is the weather always awful there on Easter?) and take them to enjoy the day. Let the kids roll the eggs, pet the animals, visit with the Easter Bunny and enjoy being American kids.

As far as advocating the acceptance of homosexuality as legitimate in the Christian church, there's nothing they could do to make me accept it. If they behave beautifully, if their kids are a delight, if the day is truly wonderful, it will make no difference. I would say the same of anyone trying to force acceptance of heterosexual premarital sex or adultery. They can believe what they want, but it doesn't change the Truth.
