Dear Judge;
Mr. Angel Shamaya is before your court on a misdemeanor charge of having been in possession of one or more firearms not properly registered under Michigan laws.
I have known Angel for several years and want to inform the court that I know him to be a law-abiding and upstanding American citizen. I don't know whether or not he violated Michigan law, but I do know that he a good person who moved there to be near his son and who takes his family and civic responsibilities very seriously. He is a non-violent and reputable person. He is one of the good guys in our society. I hold a high level security clearance with the U.S. government and work in the area of regional infrastructure security. I would trust Angel in that environment on a moments notice because of my past knowledge and experience with him.
Please afford Mr. Shamaya the respect and courtesy you would any other beyond-reproach, well-known, upstanding member of your community. I am almost certain, that if you look at this closely, you will find that Angel was either already complying with, or seeking to comply with whatever regulations he is accused of violating and should therefore be afforded every before-mentioned courtesy and consideration

Many of us do know him. Many have watched and known of his involvement with the 2nd Amendment for years, and many have been involved with him or he with us. Based on that knowledge, a reference can be made...and I hope thousands do.

A Character Reference is for an INDIVIDUAL. My discussion was of a subculture and was a description of a type we see far too often. Perhaps that is too subtle for you.
Great I just have the idea that it is bad to do this if one does not know the person. That is dishonest and has no bearing upon the actions of those who DO know him.
Agreed...but I do not think the intent was to get peope who do not know him to fruadulently endorse or reference him. The fact is, there are thousands who do know him and can provide such reference. I see the request trying to get those people involved. I am one of those and it got to the right person. So are many others on this thread.
