Mike Malloy.... coined a term for this years ago. He calls them the "30% idiot contingent".

Wow, is that clever or what? With that kind of intellect on their side, the DUmmies will continue to hold the majority for...uh...

Awesome Analogy! I will be using it with your permission over and over and over.....

The poll taking procedures just remind me of that planchette gliding gently from letter to letter on the Ouija board. It seems like the planchette is moving of its own volition but in reality it is subtly following the directions guided thru the fingers resting on it. Much like the poll results will show the wishes of the organizations that commissioned it. The poll taker planchette seemingly acting according to impersonal statistics but in REALITY reflecting the symbolic fingers resting upon it to give the results desired.

The only people I know who still support him are truly uninformed or stupid, or religiously insane.

Well that does it for me. I'm seriously not gonna vote for Bush in '08.

When my husband read the Madness of King George essay, he asked where he could read your other work.

Strangely enough, at one point in my checkered career I was read by over a hundred million Russkies across 11 time zones in Krokodil magazine. It is all explained in I WAS A COMMIE WRITER. Also I mixed in politics with movie reviews when I was "typing" the AL GORE AT THE MOVIES reviews.

I've often wondered myself why the exit polls were wrong.
By way of comparison, the exit polls for the British General Election in May 2005 were totally accurate.

I discussed this with a friend last night--he works for a state governor and goes to one of the most famous universities for a degree in Government; one of his classes is about statistics.

Based on our discussion about this last night, I would wager that in Britain they didn't have idiots like the Kerry people who tried to rig the exit polls by showing up at polling places and voting in the exit polls. In Britain they probably just let it alone because both sides wanted to see an accurate poll, not some rigged propaganda, which ultimately failed.

He also showed me how easy it is to get the answer one wants from a poll, based on such simple things as the poll-taker's tone and placing of questions. One will get different answers by asking a question in subtly different ways. You will get a different answer by asking:

Do you approve of your governor's performance?

Do you approve of your Republican governor's performance?

Do you approve of our Republican president? Do you approve of our Republican governor?

etc. etc.
