The new group You Don't Speak for Me! formed when Col. Al Rodriguez became fed up watching media coverage of the mass protests of April. "Their leaders were saying it was a march for immigrant rights and a Latino/Hispanic movement," says Rodriguez. "I thought to myself, 'Hey, those are illegal aliens, not immigrants!'" Col. Rodriguez began speaking out to others saying, "I'm of Hispanic ancestry and those people are acting like they speak for me. Well, you don't speak for me!"
At a press conference this morning, covered live on C-SPAN2, he and the other speakers did just that
Photos and video (more to come - press conference was 1hr 30 min total)
Watch introductory video from today's conference (12min)
Watch Claudia Spencer on Neal Cavuto.
I'm so glad they're speaking out. They need to refute this communist garbage that all Latinos are pro-illegal. And maybe the Republicans will stop being so terrified of allegedly losing the Hispanic vote by getting serious about border security.
I'm glad to see that they're American first just like I am an American of german descent.
I was impressed with a lady from that group on Lou Dobbs today. She said her parents came in legally and the illegals should never ever get amnesty.
Speakin' of German....I see that Sen. Kennedy said that the Anthem should be sung in English. Period.
Howeird Dean says it wouldn't matter to him if it were translated into German and sung. The spanish translation is just a right-wing distraction......
I don't speak german and my national anthem should be sung in english.
Howard would probably prefer Deutschland Uber Alles anyway.
With a YEAAARRRRRGGHHHH! for the grand finale.
Hispanics opposed to today's boycotts speak out!
Scottish descent, American first.
Shout it loud as you can, America needs to hear all of your voices!
I saw him speak (and several others) this morning.
They were all VERY GOOD!! and some were noticeably angry about the illegals and the borders and immigration laws not being enforced.
¡Usted no habla para mí ping!
Thanks for the ping, Swinney. This was posted earlier and got next to nada responses (however, still more than you've gotten so far). I wonder why that is? Free Republic should be celebrating this. It's the true story about those of us who are too busy being Americans to tell our story as loudly and publicly as the pendejos in the streets today.
This is beautiful.
There's a Hispanic family in my neighborhood flying a HUGE American flag from the front of their home today.
I will comment to them and/or leave a note as soon as I can. They have such a humble little house but their pride is GIGANTIC.
That is. And that's a very good idea to thank them for their patriotism.
Well, apparantly speaking out doesn't matter for everyone, like this guy who says he's going to stop buying/shopping/frequenting Latino owned businesses or business who employ Latinos NO MATTER WHAT. In subsequent posts (now deleted), he says so what if anti-illegal immigration, pro-border-security, conservative U.S. born Latinos and their businesses get hurt? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1624811/posts?page=30#30
That is wrong. I have no problem with any LEGAL immigrant, regardless of their ethnicity. None. And I have known many.
Yes, it's wrong. But it's disheartening to see just me and one other guy try to correct him. Disheartening.
