LA County Gun Task Force Serving Search Warrants LAPD & LASO Might Be Knocking On Your Door Next!
LA County Gun Task Force Serving Search Warrants
Officers from the Los Angeles County Gun Task Force in CA have begun serving search warrants on residents in that county who are suspected of holding un-registered "Assault Rifles" including 50 BMG target rifles.
If you or any of your friends have not complied with the provisions of AB-50 that require you to register any 50 BMG rifles you own, you may very well expect a knock on your door at any time.
This information was received from a former ATF agent in CA:
"I have a friend who had a search warrant executed by the LA gun task force at his apartment, which is located above a home, within LA city limits a few months back. This task force is headed up by ATF, with LAPD and LASO being the primary agencies participating. Pursuant to the warrant execution, one Springfield M1A with its' original flash hider attached and numerous .50 cal incendiary type bullets (Projectiles) were seized. My friend was not arrested at the time and led to believe the case might not even be prosecuted. The task force left his entire gun collection, which is extensive, with him at his apartment. A little more info here for you to consider. My friend has no criminal record of any kind, is a decorated Vietnam vet, is gainfully employed as a carpenter, and is law abiding.
A couple of weeks ago, the task force came back to his apartment and arrested my friend and charged him with five felonies. He was taken to jail where he remained for two days until his bail was set and met. He is charged with being in possession of an unregistered assault rifle, and in possession of destructive devices, and in possession of destructive devices within so many feet of a school. Five felonies under California law in total.
Being a retired ATF special agent myself, I contacted the case agent who happens to be a LAPD detective assigned to the task force. I asked him why such a chicken ##### case was being prosecuted. Why were they ruining my friend's life after his service to our country and the fact that he has no past criminal record. I asked him what happened to law enforcement using common sense and discretion in a case like this. The detective told me they didn't make the laws, but it was their job to enforce the law and that the DA has a no tolerance policy regarding firearms. I tried to explain to him that the M1A rifle with its' original flash hider was legally sold to 1000's of people in CA before the assault rifle law was even enacted. Many of these original owners to this day do not know they are in violation by having the flash hider on their rifle. The detective didn't care. I explained that on at least two prior occasions I had contacted DOJ myself and had been informed the explosive bullets were legal in California as they are under ATF law, as long as they were not loaded into a case and able to fire. He said that was incorrect info and that under CA law the bullets alone are destructive devices and that each individual bullet could be charged separately."
During the past several months FCI has received several inquiries from people who are possibly California residents who have been asking what they should do because they hadn't registered their firearms before the required date. We have told everyone they need to contact an attorney to find out the best possible way to deal with this situation.
Also be aware that I spoke to Bill Ritchie at EDM Arms, Inc. recently and he had several customers who had purchased 50 BMG target rifles on a time payment program. The customers had not picked up their rifles before the expiration of the registration period and now all the firearms have to be turned in to the Dept of Justice in CA for destruction.
This is a very serious matter for owners as well as manufacturers. It appears that LA County Gun Task Force and DOJ in CA are looking for an opportunity to make an example out of an otherwise Law Abiding citizen. Don't let it be you. Seek good legal advice before you get a knock on your door when you least expect it.

The 50 caliber ban was signed into law by "Republican" rinold schwarzenegger and its not just the bmgs that are banned. its single shot black powder muzzleloader rifles as well as the 50 caliber muzzleloader pistols.Another thing how in the heck does the atf have the authority to enforce a state (unconstitutional)gun ban?

The BATFE should be disbanded. The government has no business in what you drink, what you smoke, what firearms you own, or any explosive.
If you use a gun or bomb in the commission of a crime you ought to get an automatic death sentence.
In the end the only systems of government that seem to work are those based on freedom. Our government, at all levels, is busy stripping away any freedom they can get their hands on.

Yes ... they should be treated like the Nazi's they are ... not with protests, not with letters of discontent, not with calls to politicians to complaine ... no, they should be treated the same way the Allies treated the Nazi's in WWII.

You mind showing where in the law the portion that covers anything other than the BMG round? I'd also be interested in seeing where muzzleloaders are covered. If such a law exists, I'll be sure to notify my local authorities that I've a cache of .69 and .75 cal muskets and rifles for them to charge me with. The malicious prosecution settlement would pay for a wonderful vacation, and I know my lawyer needs a new car.

If the caught a person in a riot with a Molotov cocktail in their car, they would probably never be prosecuted for possession of a destructive device. Robbers using Machine guns or sawed off shotguns are never prosecuted for possessing a class III weapon. The BATF exists solely to harrass dealers and citizens to the delight of douchebags like Dianne Feinstein.

Look at Hardy's website, what do think? ATF enforcing state law? Someone see if they can obtain a copy of the arrest report, which is a public record, even in Commie CA.

We should be careful about the accuracy of what we charge the ATF with. They do enough horrendous stuff that we certainly don't need to make up anything.

of course not. where's the profit in going after a guy with only a couple bucks to his name? atf only wants to get the big busts so they can get the big publicity, funding, and huge bonuses from confiscations from big class3 type people. considering how much its costs to own a class3 weapon, people that have them tend to be very wealthy. atf gets to confiscate everything. and then, since they have government backing, they have unlimited amounts of money to prosecute- and they aren't hesitant to spend millions to prosecute a couple $200 tax violations.

This needs to be verified. One e-mail does not make it so.
As for the muzzleloader question, yes. The law was written to restrict by caliber only. It does not make a distinction between the .50 BMG or a .54 cal blackpowder. This was discussed at length on various boards when it was passed and signed by the RINO governator.

According to a plain wording of the law, yes. It specifies caliber, but not powder or cartridge. Technically, the .50 Beowulf and the .50 AE are outlawed as well as the BMG.
Of course, I still haven't seen any mention of this AB 50 round up anywhere other than in this one mention.

California made everyone who owned an SKS register them. "Don't worry, we just need to know where they are."
Within a year or so they deemed them "assault rifles" and banned them. Everyone had to turn them in or become an instant felon. After all....they KNEW who had them.

I wonder what sort of arsenal Captain John Fremont had with him when he and his intrepid band of ~48 explorers (including his bodyguard of ~9 Delaware Indians) "initiated" the California Bear Revolt?
They camped out at now Fremont State Park (Gavilan Peak) and waited for Spanish in Monterey to attack. The attack never came because the "soldiers" were a sorry lot.
In the biographies, each man had 4-6 weapons, either 2-4 rifles or 2-4 pistols. And the Delaware had their coup sticks.

I am happy to hear this. Apparently the LEOs in California are so efficient and so effective at combating crime and the violence perpetrated by the gangs and the illegal aliens (often one in the same) as well as other crime that they can now persue those who commit paper violations of laws whose only purpose is to make freedom loving, law abiding citizens into criminals and ruin their lives.
