I miss the old days when children actually went to school to learn how to read and write

What is particularly frightening in the light of teachers molesting students today is that NEA would not pass an amendment setting forth protection of pupils from "sexual misconduct by teachers."

Today????

Many teachers have been molesting students for YEARS and when caught are just transferred to other schools

But you'll never hear any outrage from the media about that because the NEA protects them

Nice to see that the union which supposedly represents me is so interested in encouraging literacy, improving reading scores on standardized tests, rewarding teachers for academic success in the classroom, and providing the best research in learning and teaching so I can do a better job.

Instead of those goals, my union is telling me that I have spit in the face of the majority of my parents and my community by adopting a narrow ideological viewpoint about personal sexual behavior that best belongs behind closed doors in the privacy of someone's home. I would say the same thing about any sexual behavior or activity, by the way. My plate is full just trying to teach reading and writing.

Seeing news stories such as this one tell me why the public thinks most teachers are liberal dilettantes. Speaking as someone inside the monkey house, however, a lot of us are going back to our real jobs and ignore the union, let alone waste valuable time focusing on accepting homosexuality.

That means that the NEA "recommends that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues be required content for teacher credentialing,"

Anyone out there who still doesn't get it????

I have a feeling that there are going to be a LOT more homeschoolers in the not to distant future.

As long as we continue to blame George W. Bush for causing the HIV/AIDS problems because he is against gay marriage. I mean, if it wasn't for him wanting to ban gay marriage, wouldn't the gays turn themselves into a new meaningless cause to fight for and drop the homo act, in turn dropping the #s of HIV cases?

That means that the NEA "recommends that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues be required content for teacher credentialing," according to AFA Action Alert.

And just what does this have to do with training teachers to teach children? Oh! Wait a minute! Getting a teaching degree DOESN'T train you to teach (as per my best friend and s-i-l who both got their teaching degrees and told me the same thing- the degree does not teach you how to teach)

In addition, the NEA took out the term "tolerance" regarding homosexuality and supplied "acceptance and respect" concerning such alliances. ( from the article)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Acceptance and respect of homosexuality is NOT religiously neutral. The government schools ( using tax money) are actively and even maliciously working to undermine and destroy the religious beliefs of some families.

This is post is merely one of hundreds of ways in which government schools can not be religiously neutral. There is no possible way that the government school can be respectful to the worldviews ( with religious consequences) of all opinions involved. The government, no matter what decision it makes, WILL establish the religious worldview of some while undermine those of others.

Government schools never were and never can be religiously neutral. I find it hard to understand why this axiom is not widely understood.

There is only one solution: Begin the process of privatizing universal K-12 education. In the meantime, do what ever it takes to get your children out of government schools.

'We should teach acceptance and respect, not tolerance, of those who are different from us wherever appropriate.'"

As we have been saying all along...........it's not about tolerance. Quite the opposite.
