Carla Marinucci: A touch of blue running through Schwarzenneger on election day?
SFGate Politics Blog ^ | 10/27/6 | Carla Marinucci

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that it's not an absolute given that he's voting for every Republican candidate on the statewide ballot, saying that "I've voted for Democratic candidates in the past."

The governor made the comments today to Chronicle op-ed columnist Debra J. Saunders in a sit-down in San Francisco, following his event to promote telecommunications and more broadband networks to boost technologies that will serve medicine, transportation and a number of other areas.

Saunders asked Schwarzenegger if he planned to vote the entire Republican ticket. The governor's reply: "As soon as I look at it, I mean, I really don't have the ballot right in front of me," he said. "I will look at the list, then I will let you know."

Saunders pressed if, for example, he were voting for GOP Treasurer candidate Claude Parrish, who has refused all debates, over AG Candidate Bill Lockyer -- who voted for Schwarzengger in the 2003 recall and has been praised by him as "a great attorney general" -- or for former State Senator Dick Mountjoy, who is running against incumbent U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein.

"I will tell you as soon as I've voted. Right now, I really don't know," he said.

So then it's is not automatic, she asked?

"It's not always automatic," he said. "No, I've voted for Democratic candidates in the past."

Campaign officials noted later the governor has endorsed the entire statewide ticket -- with the exception of Mountjoy -- and that he'll be responsible for the largest GOTV effort in GOP history. They said that he also values "his excellent working relationship with Dianne Feinstein."

There is no good choice in the Governor's race. The choice is Bad or Worse. Republicans are expected to show loyalty, but the Governor is not. Apparently our own CRP is undermining other conservative efforts, as well. I just posted this on the CA board:
----

I just got my official "California Republican Party's Voter Guide," a schnazzy 12 page full size pamphlet with a handy "pocket voter guide" card inserted.

Upon examination, I was enraged to find:
1) There is no recommendation for YES on Proposition 90 (Eminent Domain)
2) There is no recommendation for NO on Proposition 1C (Housing Bonds)
3) There is no mention whatsoever of Richard Mountjoy for U.S. Senate.

While Mountjoy has gotten the short shrift from the CRP from the beginning, I see NO excuse for the first two omissions. These were the Official positions of the CRP as agreed at the Summer Convention!

Mr. Sundheim--can you explain please?

I think it's time for an updated listing of the sins of the CAGOP's "SS" as in Sundheim/Schwartzenegger!

These are sins against the Party's Platform, it's members desires and especially it's stalwart conservative members principles and reasons for continuing to support Republicanism in CA!!!

Kinda like Martin Luthers "95 Thesises that he nailed to the cathedral door, if ya know what I mean!!! (when he said:"Here I stand. I can do no other!")

Tom Sullivan just gave a description of the Sean Hannutty/A. Schwartzenegger fund raiser in Sacramento last night. He was amazed at how many more people were there from out of state, like NY, HI, OH, Hollyweird and how few were there from Sacramento!!!

"It's not always automatic," he said. "No, I've voted for Democratic candidates in the past."

And to think...there are loads of Freepers who demand that we vote for this guy just 'cause he's got an 'R' by his name.

Hold my nose? Feh.

Stop spreading misinformation.

I got mine too and mine did have all the recommendations. I don't know what you are talking about.

See below their position on the propositions you mentioned.

Mountjoy wasn't on it, because the voter guide was for state election, not Federal. The list was for "STATE TEAM", i.e. state offices.

Why don't you look on their website?

http://www.cagop.org/

Proposition 90: CRP Position: Support

Titled "Government Acquisition, Regulation of Private Property," this initiative reforms the use of eminent domain laws, limiting government authority and protecting the rights of property owners.

Proposition 1C: CRP Position: Oppose

"Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2006" is a $10.4 billion bond measure.

Proposition 1D: CRP Position: Neutral

"Education facilities: Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2006" is a $10.4 billion bond measure.

"Proposition 84: CRP Position: Oppose

Titled "Water Quality, Safety and Supply. Flood Control. Natural Resource Protection. Park Improvements," this $5.4 billion water quality and water supply bond."

Stop spreading misinformation.

Are you calling me a liar?

I got mine too and mine did have all the recommendations. I don't know what you are talking about.

Really!?! Folks over at Flash Report got the same one I did (although they didn't notice that Prop 84 was also missing). Are you calling them liars too?

Mountjoy wasn't on it, because the voter guide was for state election, not Federal.

Nothing in this 12 page glossy pamphlet says anything about "State".

Why don't you look on their website?

I have looked at their website. And it shows that this pamphlet is grossly inadequate and does not reflect the recommendations that were agreed upon at the Summer convention!

Here's part of what makes 84 so insideous...

Under Babbit(and his right hand man, Garamendi) and Clinton, they used this bondage money to grab land for Habitat Conservation Plans (HCP's) and now they call them something else whose initials are NCCP's! Sounds like the call letters of the Space Ship Enterprise in Star Trek!!!

Well, right from the start... I'm against these goofy schemes of affirmative action for fish and plants and welfare for wildlife. They've been proposin and re-proposin that crap up here and when the whitewater rafting communutty started forcing the issue, I proposed we accept the concept as long as in covered all the properties along the American River and suddenly the silence was deafening!!!

What I find sickening is how easily the property owners allow themselves to be pushed over and intimidated and coerced with tax dodges, regular old threats, etc. You can't champion a cause against this stuff when they won't untilize your leadership against this baloney.

I call it "inexorable incrementalism," because they keep after it like hydrolic water pressure with a constant "full court press!" They also are very experienced and talented in twisting everything opponents say into being "against the environment!"

To me, they are ruthless people out to implement some other ism than capitalism and I think they are activists for something other than traditional Americanism. The smell terribly strongly of old Europe socialism of the Franco-Germanic GANG-GREEN type!

I could say much more, the the question always lingers over these HCP's (Habitat Conservation Plans) that is what they called these things during Clinton/Babbit's time in office... Who wants this other than the Bird Watchers, the Posey Pluckers and the more militant sportsmen groups for hunting and fishing.

These normally good special interst groups are having their staffing infiltrated with leftists who then arrange for GANG-GREEN litigators or like mind who start pro-bono until there's a suit filed. Then the "citizen district attorney" law allows them their attorney fees at taxpayers expense no matter how the litigation succeeds, or fails, or is just settled!!!

This is so hideous and insideous that I'm having flash-backs to the horrors of seeing my fellow Board of Supervisor colleagues voting in closed session to settle with these bastards just to get 'em outta the county's face and save the taxpayers the cost of a badly needed trial because of the outside chance we'd lose! Damn!!!

I'm sure DiFi is voting for Arnold. He's done more to empower dems (or should I say , keep them in power) than any Gub in recent history. Some choice, huh?

He'll have to check with RINO Central and the New Majority first. Which is why I call him Duf[us] Sundheim.
