When I went to the GOTV site that was the first thing that popped in my head. Anyone could do this, even the Rat enemy.

Perhaps that is Rove's plan. Nothing would motivate me to vote like a call from a Rat pretending to be a Pub. Haha.

Anyway - once the unbiased Washington Post and New York Times expose this campaign to their vast and fair minded readership I expect there to be a backlash against the Rats. Headlines the next day will read "Hell Rapidly Cooling. Freeze Likely."

If true, this would seem to be a violation of election laws, not to mention outright fraud.

&&
Yeah, so? Standard Democrat procedure.

A liberal blog in Ohio is attempting to infiltrate the Republican get out the vote campaign (GOTV). They are soliciting their members via their website to pose as Republicans interested in GOTV.

I found this web site link last night and brought it to the attention of Freepers.

I did send a note to Drudge about this last night. I also sent a note to the Ohio GOP.

If the GOP doesn't already do this, they should be randomly seeding the phone lists with "test" numbers. These numbers should ring at the desk of a GOP staffer, whose sole job is to answer these calls and pose as a voter, to see how well the volunteer is doing. That way, a deliberate saboteur would be caught before doing too much damage.

point out to this moron the 6 year federal sentence for phone jamming handed to a Republican by the Republican Attorney General; Voter actions must not include any attempt to supress votes.

Is this an act similar to the ACORN trick of collecting registrations and throwing all republican forms in the trash?

We need to keep watch on this. There's an easy way to prevent it, though. Ask whoever calls/emails a loaded question that only a conservative republican can answer correctly. I do this when I call people who want my vote. For example, I'll ask, "What's your opinion on guns?" instead of a leading, "What's your opinion on firearm ownership?" The latter reveals MY opinion, the former is more neutral.

I am not sure about the legal questions of this. I do think it is clearly unethical. I suspect it is a violation of election law to make such misrepresentations for the purpose of obstructing voting.

I am just hoping that collectively we can figure this, prevent any damage, and possibly draw attention to abuses of the political system.
