Dude, you could have avoided all that shiite if you had just been a tiny bit more civil to the first officers question. True it is your "right" to give dick answers, it's also their "right" to give you dick police treatment.
Play friendly, and you will be surprised how easy life can be!

NO, it's NOT. When did you hear him EVEN ONCE get less than polite? Never.
I hope you get it one day and when you do, don't whine to us.

Dude, you could have avoided all that shiite if you had just been a tiny bit more civil to the first officers question. His answer was perfectly civil; it just wasn't compliant. That's okay; the officer wasn't legally entitled to the information he asked for.
True it is your "right" to give dick answers...
Yes, though that's not what happened here.
...it's also their "right" to give you dick police treatment.
No, it's not. Not at all. Not in the least.
Police behavior should be professional at all times.

Yeah that's right. Better be nice to the gestapo or else they will make your life miserable.. F them and F anyone who would suggest any such thing. The government and its' enforcers don't automatically deserve our respect, they need to earn it first and foremost.

Really? I thought it was their duty to enforce the law, not make it up on the spot and harass people who are "rude" to them. What fricking business of theirs is it where he's going? Or coming from, for that matter. In fact, DUI checkpoints themselves are pretty questionable in a supposedly free society.

Dude
It's not that cops bloody business where you're going.
Next thing you know you'll start hearing "Papers please!"
as the jackbooted maggots masquerading as police officers get more power, you have less freedoms.

No it isn't. They have taken an oath to serve and protect. Not to be a dick to anyone they happen to feel like harassing.

My hat's off to this kid for having the balls to do something about it and the self control to pull the conversation off in a civil manner.

A person is not required to be friendly or polite to police officers. Maybe they should be polite but they are not required to. The police officers on the other hand HAVE NO RIGHT to detain someone for not being polite to them or bending before them on one knee.

Kudos to the kid!!!
I respect the law and most police, but I'm sick of these jackasses suffering from SPS (small penis syndrome) being jerks to people just because they can.

I agree - but the cop haters on this forum will go on and on about the brutality oh the brutality. Well the cops are doing a thankless job, getting paid crap, and getting sued for it. The cop haters on the forum have probably never done anything useful in their lives. There are jerk cops and corrupt cops but 90% of them are the salt of the earth.
I just don't understand the animus that is displayed here at times.

I’m neither a kid or a Dude. I teach my children to respect law and respect law enforcement personnel.
BUT(!) In the couple of times I have been stopped lately, the same question has been asked of me, “Where are you headed today/tonight?” I also would like to know the reason for that question.
I wonder if it provides a clue, just in case the driver is hostile and drives off, requiring a chase. Nevertheless, I believe it is an improper question, and should not be asked, unless there is probable cause. Not answering a question about our destination should NEVER be seen as probable cause. We MUST reserve to ourselves a sense of a right to privacy that cannot be violated just because a man is wearing a badge.
Yes, the young driver was only 19 years old. That age in itself can raise suspicions. But if the state says that he can get a drivers license at age 16, it must also admit that at age 16 he does not have to file his driving plans with law enforcement officers. The young man declining to answer the destination question in polite tones was NOT improper.
NOTE: I am in China and the video is not available to me here because of Google’s agreements with the PRC. I tried. I did not hear any audio, so I can not know the young man’s tone of voice. If you think he was belligerent, you can tall me.
