Dude, you could have avoided all that shiite if you had just been a tiny bit more civil to the first officers question. True it is your "right" to give dick answers, it's also their "right" to give you dick police treatment.

Play friendly, and you will be surprised how easy life can be!

Oh yeah? Hmm, had not seen that one in the bill of rights. Please look it up and let me know where to find that.

Uh, no it's not. Anyone who thinks the police have the right, or "right", to give anyone dick treatment is a dick.

Exactly! The hell with the 4th Amendment - as long as we smile it's all OK as they review our papers!

BS. This is a crock of sh**. A person doesn't have to tell police where they are going and if they refuse they don't need to be harrassed about it. It is also ok to refuse to have your car searched and it is totally illegal for them to search without your ok or a warrent WITH YOUR NAME on it, not a john doe warrent.

If a cop arrests me because I tell him it is none of his business where I am going, and it isn't, I will sue him and the city, county, state, and do my best to get him/her fired. I am NOT a teenager, I am a free adult american born free and determined to stay free and I remember having much more freedom than we have today in this progressive controlled country.

If you wish to live in a police state where you have to kiss ass when you are stopped by the police move to any other country, I am sure they will be as authoritarian as you would like.

I totally disagree. I think the police have an obligation NOT to ask anything that is none of their business. They want to have a conversation because they are lonely? Go to the donut shop.

This stuff gives good cops a bad name. It's not as if the cops shouldn't know proper protocol. It's been litigated over and over.

Sorry, but cops don't have "rights". As agents of the government they have only "enumerated powers". As individual citizens, of course, they have "rights", but not in their official capacity as agents of the government.

I've been a law abider all my life and have had my share of pull overs and gotten away by being polite. But I'm on the side of the kid on this one, he was obliging all the way but obviously not enought to that one dumbass cop.

Had I been the kid, when asked "Where you headed tonight?" I woulda said "...to see your wife, you're working."

That would have been worth a speeding ticket or whatever they could have come up with..........LOL!

I have had police harass me for having a beard, and having the gall to drive though a campus on a public road where beards were against student code. (It was the only way to get from where I lived to where I worked at the time.)

Police are people too, some times they are in a bad mood. I used to cut them some slack, tough job and all that, now they are just tax collectors running speed traps and filling quotas who sometimes take a break to do a little law enforcement. Sorry if you disagree, my $.02.

Thats where you are wrong. Hope some police officers give you some personalized "dick" police treatment soon. Heck, you might survive if you are lucky.

You're missing the point.

DWI checkpoints may be 'authorized', but they are the definition of unconsititutional. This kid understood that and kept his head about it and recorded the entire incident.

In my opinion, the only mistake the kid made was in disclosing that fact to the police.

The problem with DWI checkpoints is the lack of reasonable suspicion. This kid knew that and rammed it home. That's EXACTLY what he should have done. He payed out enough rope for these two jokers to hand themselves, and they did.

These power trippers put the tool of DWI checkpoints into jeopardy. 'Tool' is a generous term for it, but police departments feel they need them.

NO!! NO!! NO!! Cops do NOT have a right to give dick police treatment....and not saying where he was going is not being unfriendly.....And cops do not have a right to be unfriendly if they don't get thier way......

How far do you want to let the cops go? Can they make him buy their lunch? Polish their shoes? Dance for him?

What if it your wife, daughter, sister; How "friendly" do they have to be?

Why do you think the cops "own" the citizens? They don't...

Why should the kid play friendly with a law breaking law enforcement officer?

This kid wasn't giving a "dick" answer. The question was a "dick" question. And life isn't "easy" when police officers can treat regular people like this.

I was recently pulled for having a sticker on my car that was expired by one day. The revenuer asked me where I was going, and I replied by saying it wasn't his business to know. He didn't probe further.

When they were done talking about where he was going maybe he should have asked the cop how many dildos his wife keeps in her sock drawer?

Where I am going is no cops business. His wife's dildos aren't mine. If he had a dog with him they would have shot it.

I would sue there asses off and have their badges.

Um, no, it is NOT! It is a crime and makes the cop a criminal.

I think it will be even easier for him with the substantial financial settlement he will receive. This is what lawyers are for. Fines and judgments will influence behavior, particularly when a small town gets a 500% jump in their liability premium (if they can get liability insurance at all).
