Kenting packed as Spring Scream begins

Hotels rooms in the resort area of Kenting in Pingtung County are nearly all booked as people prepared to attend a series of concert events headlined by Spring Scream which began last night. Reports said that revelers have resorted to seeking accommodation in campgrounds as hotels have hiked their room rates under high demand.

The annual Spring Scream music and arts festival kicked off last night at two locations in Kenting, Erluanbi National Park and Kentington Resort in Manchou and will run until Saturday.

Organizers said that over 250 local and international bands will perform on ten stages at the two locations from early evening until midnight.

Musicians who will perform at the event include pop artists Cheer Chen and Stanley Huang.

Other concerts running along with Spring Scream include the Spring Wave festival which will take place at Maopitou Park and Longluantan campground.

More than 100 local and international artists will take to the stage at the event, featuring A-yue, Mayday, and Bobby Chen.

Six other concert events will also be taking place concurrently at locations around Kenting through the weekend.

Organizers of the Kenting concert events this weekend estimate that some 300,000 people will travel to the resort area to participate in the musical revelry.
