Congress Daily reports that a few Republican Senators voted yesterday for a Kerry amendment in support of a cap and trade system. As the Congressional Budget Office reports, such a system would harm our economy and cost Americans jobs. It would also mean higher prices for electricity and gasoline, lower wages, reduced stock values and even transfer wealth from the poor to the rich! The CBO notes, Consumers would face higher prices for energy and for goods and services that require substantial amounts of energy to produce..
Al Gore and his alarmist rhetoric have gotten to these 10 Republican Senators. They are: John Warner (VA), Arlen Specter (PA), Norm Coleman (MN), Pete Domenici (NM), Susan Collins (ME), Olympia Snowe (ME), Richard Lugar (IN), John Sununu (NH), Gordon Smith (OR), and Judd Gregg (NH). Each one of these senators should hear from their contituents that the Al Gore agenda is not the right agenda for our country.
Kyoto-style restrictions on carbon emissions are all economic pain for no environmental gain, as Marlo Lewis describes such systems. India and China wont be putting the brakes on their economy any time soon, so why should we intentionally harm our own economy to prevent further warming of the planet by less than one degree Celsius?
Be sure to call your senators and tell them not to drink the global warming kool-aid. I know an election is coming up in 2008, but the GOP should not buy into the idea that the American people support putting their economy at an economic disadvantage with emerging nations like India and China by self-imposing regulations that fail to prevent global warming.
When will my fellow voters stop supporting Warner??????
Only name on that list that surprises me is Domenici. I guess he’s just getting old.
Stupid RINOs. Anything Arlene Specter is in favor of, I’m against.
Governor Mitt Romney issued the following statement on the current environmental debate:
Governor Mark Sanford is right. Unfortunately, some in the Republican Party are embracing the radical environmental ideas of the liberal left. As governor, I found that thoughtful environmentalism need not be anti-growth and anti-jobs. But Kyoto-style sweeping mandates, imposed unilaterally in the United States, would kill jobs, depress growth and shift manufacturing to the dirtiest developing nations.
Republicans should never abandon pro-growth conservative principles in an effort to embrace the ideas of Al Gore. Instead of sweeping mandates, we must use Americas power of innovation to develop alternative sources of energy and new technologies that use energy more efficiently. ~~ Mitt Romney

Just to make it into a nice neat list of RINOs. The usual suspects. Proof again that the Republican Party has not had a real majority in the Senate since ... actually I can’t remember when.
Republican on the Outside and Gore-Fools on the inside:
John Warner (VA)
Arlen Specter (PA)
Norm Coleman (MN)
Pete Domenici (NM)
Susan Collins (ME)
Olympia Snowe (ME)
Richard Lugar (IN)
John Sununu (NH)
Gordon Smith (OR)
Judd Gregg (NH)
Just wait until the next election in 2008.
These people are likely up for reelection in 2008 and are trying to bolster their enviro-fides.
John Warner is my Senator. His seat is up for grabs in 2008; if he runs again, I am NOT voting for him.
This is one reason Newt’s potential run for the Republican nomination is a non-starter. He’s way off the reservation on the global warming issue.
Exactly! To give any credence to AGW Stalinists, Newt has shown that he is a fool. The agenda of the AGW crowd is equally as dangerous to our survival as the terrorists. The AGW crowd wants to destroy capitalism and our way of life. There can be NO compromise with the AGW crowd. ANY candidate that can't see that isn't worthy of my vote for President. Newt has no chance.
This is a false premise to begin with. It assumes that A. Humans are the cause and B. That we can do anything about it. Neither have any scientific basis.
Before the GOP wins anything nationally again, we need the ultimate RINO hunt. We need to purge our ranks of these Democrats in Republican clothing.
Bingo!
“AGW”?
Betcha every one of these *&^%^% will be reelected.
I think Warner is VA’s McCain.
According to most skeptical scientists, and Senator Inhofe’s staff, Kyoto-style restrictions might only reduce CO2 emissions enough to reduce the level of warming by less than 1 degree Celsius. Humans are NOT the main cause of global warming, but natural variability in climate temperature is. Just wanted to clarify what I am saying. Thanks.
