I hear what you are saying. And hey no one is bashing the Amish, and I for one, admire them. I couldn’t give up all the conveniences, but more power to them!!

I would prefer to see folks forming these types of cities, than to see them cow towing to the libs, especially when I look at places like Boston, and SF!! Those places will eventually, if they have their way, infiltrate every other city in America.

I also think it’s interesting that folks are against secession when it comes to people like this, but when something comes up in MA or SF, the same people say that state is a lost cause and are just willing to give it away.

To a non-SEC outsider like me (I lived in Columbia for 7 1/2 years 1997-2004), Gamecock Nation is endearingly weird. This is a football program that has a 100-year tradition of mediocrity unmatched in Division I-A. They’re at a slight competitive disadvantage in the SEC due to a smaller recruiting pool and another big football school in their small state cutting that pool down even further. They’re not good, they’re not bad, if you look at their historical record, they’re very average. And yet, every year is going to be THE YEAR...the year that the Cocks go 12-0, stomp Clemson, dominate the SEC, and win the national championship.

Ain’t happening, guys. USC fans are loyal to a fault, they were still packing the place when Lou Holtz went 0-11 his first year. They’re devoted, they travel well, they’re great fans. But just like Chicago Cubs fans, it’s always going to be “wait until next year.” Enjoy watching the team win seven games and end up in the Humanitarian Bowl, have fun with 84,000 of your closest friends in Williams-Brice every home game, but not even the Ol’ Ball Coach is going to get you to the Promised Land. Not in the Murderer’s Row that is the Southeastern Conference.

But what do I know. I went to a Division I-AA school, James Madison. But, we do have one more national football championship than the Gamecocks do in the past 100 years... *zing!*

I love South Carolina, though. It’s a fantastic place to visit and live, and I had a great time there.

You are using the terms secession, rebellion, and treason very loosely. What does the U.S. Constitution say about secession?

13,000 died at Andersonville. Wirz tried to improve conditions, but could not get the resources.

One of the real tragedies is Stanton & Grant would not allow prisoner negotiations, exchanges, nor the ability to provide food, medicine, and supplies to Camp Sumter.

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there! LOL

I was born in SC but lived as a young boy in TN for a while where my blood turned orange. I get along fine with Clemson fans and even have attended a few games at Death Valley. But the Shamecocks, as you so eloquently put it, are a 100 yr tradition of mediocrity. Love that line and can't wait to put it to use come fall. :)

There’s also a movement in Vermont to secede. Not sure what their beef is.

It's economic. They want to corner the maple syrup market.

I think the rest of the country isn't far left enough.

Not a bad thing... let’s balkanize into 50 states or 200. This is why most of the Founders wanted a federal system, not a Leviathan national state.

7 1/2 years in Spurrierlumbia? Wow, you can now survive most anything after that. I still ask everyone from there why didn’t they rebuild the city after General Sherman burned it down during the Civil War. I think enough time has passed by now.

I always say that the next hurricane to hit Spurrierlumbia will do millions of dollars in improvements.

I do love the roadkill chicken fans magical tradition of turning into empty seats in the 3rd quarter. The fans also hate this;

THIS IS SOUTH CAROLINA FOOTBALL

I was always puzzled while growing up in the state that so many people could get so excited about those two teams constituted of 18-22 year olds in an educational enviromnent they had never personally experienced, much less actual universities they had never attended.

As a transplant to the state I had no stake in the football rivary here until I went to Carolina for my freshman year of college (which ironically enough was the 0-11 season). So it was then my blood began to run Red.... It could have run orange but clemson wouldn't show me the money when I was looking at schools.

Since I left Carolina, I have began to regard Carolina-Clemson as a secondary "regional rivalry." It lacks the tradition and history of the mutual respect and professionalism of Army-Navy.

Yeah your right Carolina does have a championship. If fact there best chance to get a championship was ended by Navy on November 17, 1984.

All I got to say is Fear the Goat! Don't believe me go as Tommy Bowden. My blood runs Blue and Gold...

but I tend not to look favorably upon people who want to rebel against our great nation. Don't like America? Fine, leave. See how you like things in Europe or Africa.

I believe that Thomas Jefferson would disagree with you:

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

And I disagree with you also. The Second Amendment was not put in the Constitution to protect duck hunting.

Frankly If there was a place to go.....to get away from this great nation that is on the downward spiral...I’d go

I don’t blame these people at all.

But if a company does the same thing, they're traitors? ROFLMAO!!

If someone says something stupid on one thread, I’ve noticed they usually say stupid things on other threads. And you do.

You mean kind of like British citizens in 13 British colonies “rebeled against their nation”? Perhaps your allegience is to the Union Jack.

In 1776, we would have called you a Tory.

Perhaps you should re-reads the first paragraph of a document called the “Declaration of Independence”. Apparently there is something about the God-given right to liberty that you don’t understand.
