Head-to-toe Muslim veils test British tolerance

There is no reason why Western lifestyles have to put up with Muslim females draped from head to toe so that their identities are completely hidden.
This is offensive to those enjoying free nations’ liberties. These Islamic customs are not only ridiculous but offensive to reason.
If free nations have any self-respect they will see to it that such garb is banned. It is not being irreligious or discourteous. It is being logical.
How can a public school teacher in such dress instruct pupils? She can’t.
How can a civil servant see through her duties as a social worker or clerk at a motor vehicle desk? She can’t.
Therefore, Muslim women tied to head-to-toe veils should stay in their own Muslim environs or give up the hide-away when moving into non-Muslim cultures.
According to Jane Perlez of the International Herald Tribune: “Increasingly, Muslim women in Britain take their children to school and run errands covered head to toe in flowing black gowns that allow only a slit for their eyes.
“Like little else, their appearance has unnerved Britons, testing the limits of tolerance in this stridently secular nation. Many veiled women say they are targets of abuse. At the same time, efforts are growing to place legal curbs on the full Muslim veil, known as the niqab.
“The past year has seen numerous examples: A lawyer dressed in a niqab was told by an immigration judge that she could not represent a client because, he said, he could not hear her. A teacher wearing a niqab was told by a provincial school to go home. A student who was barred from wearing a niqab took her case to the courts, and lost. In fact, the British education authorities are proposing a ban on the niqab in schools altogether.”
Every move to undress the Muslim woman so that we know who she is is another step toward civility. Do reasonable citizens truly want their societies further unwoven by the intrusion of the Muslim veil? They should fight this with every civil effort possible.
“David Sexton, a columnist for The Evening Standard, wrote recently that Britain has been ‘too deferential’ toward the veil. ‘I find such garb, in the context of a London street, first ridiculous and then directly offensive,’ he said.”
True.
When Roman Catholic nuns wear the habit, that is fine. Why? Because their identity via face is known to whomever. When Amish dress in their style, that is fine. Why? Because their identity is visible.
When Muslim women cover themselves except for eye slits, that’s reprehensible. It simply cannot continue in a free country.
In “France, Turkey and Tunisia, students in state schools and female civil servants are banned from covering their hair. British Muslim women can wear the headscarf, and indeed the niqab, almost anywhere, for now.”
Hurrah for France, Turkey and Tunisia. Other parts of the planet take note and follow.
I would say that all Islamic customs are offensive. Especially cutting off the heads of non-muslims then airing the barbaric act on television.
I still have one question, do the women AND MEN wear underwear under the robes????

I don’t think banning the clothing/customs is the answer. The answer is not to allow immigration from the countries which have such customs.

Okay, you can’t discriminate against anyone because of their religion, look it up it’s law. However, I do agree with you, but I just can’t stand the Muslim religion period, why you ask, go read the Qu’ran, it’ll make your skin crawl. But ask yourself this, should Jewish men remove that little beanie hat (sorry, don’t know the name of it) that they wear? What about Catholic priests and the famous white collar? where does it stop?
Muslims don't fit in with American society and we see what they do to Americans and Europeans who attempt (for whatever reason escapes me) to live in Muslim societies. They hate us and many of us are beginning to take a dislike to them.
It's truly regretable that many in America's uneducated classes find something to like about islam and join up. They're in position to take their orders from the local imam and would no doubt be ready to wreak havoc amongst the population.
In fact, they have already, but authorities are hesitant to tell Americans who's pulling the strings in case we get incensed and attempt to do something about it.
Islamists in America are far more dangerous than those of Japanese ancestry who were rounded up and placed in camps at WWII's outbreak.
LOL. I have seen some American men that to practice this dress too.
If a law abiding citizen were to open carry (and in many cased concealed carry) some people would consider that threatening, an no doubt the cops would harass me.
If I were wearing a Burka that might conceal explosive or other weapons, and someone thought that threatening, they would be considered a bigot.
There is a law, where I live, against wearing a mask when you enter a store. Isn’t this the same thing?
You're absolutely right. The Koran would make one's skin crawl. Another good source of material on Islam is the history of Spain and how horrible it was to live under muslim domination.
The men were boiled alive, in many cases, and the women were raped and thrown on the trash heap when the muslims grew tired of the same wench.
If you live in Toronto (especially) the profusion of muslims is terrifying.
I think that the "Niqab" they are talking about is the idea of concealment. "Religious garb" or not, that idea is just not compatible with our society.
Try wearing a ski mask in a bank sometime.

It is illegal, IIRC, to wear a mask in a casino, bank and several other types of establishments because of robberies...
The garb allows their men to sneak around in Iraq and kill our soldiers. Works for the muslims there. Why give it up.
they already ban the wearing of crosses in some schools... and no bringing bibles or bibles bookcovers to school either (but prayer mats are ok, of course)
