Lately, liberals have been talking a lot about bringing back the so-called Fairness Doctrine. However, there is nothing fair about the Fairness Doctrinewhich, in practice would censor conservative radio hosts and drive them off the air.
Despite the fact that liberals dominate so much of the mainstream media, when it comes to talk radio, their attitude seems to be, If you cant beat them, use the government to silence them. That is not an attack on conservatism; it is an assault against the freedom of speech of every American. Where else can a cab driver in Nevada, a farmer in Iowa, a factory worker in South Carolina, or a homemaker in Alabama have his or her voice heard and appreciated? Because of talk radio, the Americans in flyover country that the elites like to ignore, can call in and say their piece in front of millions of their fellow citizens. The new media revolution in this country has been driven by talk radio and blogs. This new media empowers ordinary Americans and allows them to have their say in our great national debates.
Some politicians do not like that very much. They cringe when the American people rise up and tell Washington exactly what they think, as they did with the Senate amnesty bill. Personally, I think the Founding Fathers would have been proud to see the Senate bowing to the wishes of an informed, passionate electorate that spoke loud and clear out of concern for what is good for this country.
With that in mind, let me make you a promise: When I am elected President of the United States, the American people can count on me to keep our airwaves free from government dictates like the misnamed Fairness Doctrine. If it were to be revived in Congress and come across my desk, you can be sure of a Duncan Hunter veto.
Hunter ping.
Just came out today.
Concise and right on the money.
Duncan Hunter Bump for later reading
the alternative media, which includes talk radio, the blogosphere and open forums like FR, will be important players in exorcising the zeitgeist of socialism.
Those who are of the dark side, long to silence the voices of free men and women speaking truth...
Duncan Hunter and Mark Levin discuss (UN)fairness doctrine....
Rep. Duncan Hunter again at his best, cutting to the chase to protect our freedoms. God bless you, Sir.
I think they would have too, Mr. Hunter.
Bump to post #7!
I also heard Duncan Hunter say on Hannity’s show that it gives regular folks a chance to be heard, as they can call the talk shows (I’m paraphrasing).
Wake up America!!
