If Fred solely debates the second tier candidates , it will only serve to elevate them and make Fred look... well....second tier .

Why is Fred Thompson neglecting this debate? This is one that would bring him home to the conservatives and advance his lead in the polls (not a poll person, but you have to go by perceptions).
