Did you see the poll? No you didn’t. Google it you won’t find it. It was leaked to the Washington Post along with an internal memo did you see any of it printed in the Post?

Nope? You know why? Because it’s about Democrats stupid!

The survey by the Democratic pollsters Lake Research indicated that both Mrs Clinton and Barack Obama, second in the Democratic race, trailed Rudy Giuliani, the Republican front runner, in 31 swing congressional districts.

Polls don’t mean ****. Remember, at this point in the ramp-up to the ‘04 election, the leading Democrat was Howard Dean.

Assumes Rudi will be the republican candidate ... who leaked this poll, Rudi to bolster his chance for the nomination or Hillary to rally the base?

I would hate to have to hold my nose and vote for a RINO Republican for President!

But I will to keep a Liberal Socialist Sociopath from being elected.

Current trends favor democrats in 2008.

Democrats will however have to choose a candidate.

They will then choose Hillary.

They will then loose.

The combination of not Hillary and Republican voters will destroy Dems in 08.

Even if Rudy did have this poll leaked, what does that really matter? If it is true, why is the Washington Post not reporting on it?

Polls between the two parties don't mean a whole lot yet, after the nominees are chosen it will make more of a difference, but why would the press suppress this poll, yet publish every one that shows Dems in a better light?

Keep up your Rudy slamming, and you will miss the forest through the trees. Just like your forum name states, your comment added a NonValue to this story.

Actually, the polls were dead on in 2006, in almost every senate race. And where they were wrong, as in DeWine vs. Brown, they erred on the REPUBLICAN side.

There has been extensive polling on the other side of this poll that shows NO Republican winning in any of the key competitive states except Florida: Clinton (and in many cases, even Obama) are leading Rudy by 3-5 points and Fred by as many as 10. It's one thing not to be discouraged by polls, but to ignore them is folly. I thought we had learned that in 2006.

Yes, but I’m talking about the polls in 2004, 2 years previous to your example.

Democrats always poll higher as a Generic Democrat than they do when a name is attached to the Party (particularly when the name attached is Hillary Clinton).

People may theoretically like the idea that they’re Democrats ... in practice, most people don’t like actual Democrat politicians.
