Breaking News :) Huckabee picks 'running mate'
LA Times ^ | 1/10/08 | Andrew Malcolm

Posted on 01/10/2008 8:41:46 AM PST by Clint N. Suhks

Former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee has only one caucus triumph in Iowa and a third-place primary finish in New Hampshire to his credit this presidential season. But that didn't stop the Republican from formally announcing his vice presidential running mate tonight: Stephen Colbert, the Comedy Central channel comedian from "The Colbert Report."

Using a split-screen with Huckabee in South Carolina for Thursday's GOP debate on Fox News, Colbert put candidate Huckabee through a quiz. Would he, Colbert demanded, chase Osama bin Laden into hell, as Sen. John McCain has vowed?

"And beyond," replied Huckabee.

Colbert, who abandoned his won mock presidential run last fall after South Carolina Democrats barred him from the primary ballot, started hinting to the ex-governor about his willingness to join a Huckabee ticket, citing his extensive foreign policy experience as trips to Sandals resorts in both Jamaica and the Bahamas.

Apparently, Huckabee was impressed. "Stephen," he said, "please be my running mate."

"Yes," replied Colbert, "a thousand times yes."

So it's official, a fusion ticket between a Republican and whatever Colbert really is...

Where does one begin? The Huckster’s 4th appearance on a show whose host is an ardent Conservative hating pundit that pretends to be a conservative only to mock them. Does the Huckster get that I wonder? Apparently this lefty LA Times Andrew Malcolm can’t figure that one out either, two peas in a pod?

Colbert, like Susan Estrich, would love nothing better than to see the Huckster as the Republican candidate only to watch the MSM tear him down and make him look like a Pat Robertson “type” religious nut ready to pass any law mandating compulsory Sunday School attendance.

Not to mention the seriousness of his campaign appearing here reminds me of one other.

BOXERS OR BRIEFS Mr HUCKSTER? BOXERS OR BRIEFS?

Huckbee will be a non-issue by November, IMO

4 times? If that isn’t proof that he’s just a slick salesman fooling the Christian Right sheeple to get elected and will dump him after election day for his new overlords ... what more do you want?

This guy is a McCain-in-training!

How about looking at his tax-and-spend soft-on-crime RECORD as Governor?

http://www.americanthinker.com/2007/12/the_huckabee_hustle.html

“Betsy Hagan, Arkansas director of the conservative Eagle Forum and a key backer of his early runs for office, was once ‘his No. 1 fan.’ She was bitterly disappointed with his record. ‘He was pro-life and pro-gun, but otherwise a liberal,’ she says. ‘Just like Bill Clinton he will charm you, but don’t be surprised if he takes a completely different turn in office.’”

How disappointing. I thought for sure he’d go with Richard Simmons.

He’ll appear on Colbert and Real Time with Bill Maher but he won’t appear on real conservative talk shows?

What does that say?

Hell NO!!! And God willing NO...

I just think because of how the media loves him, and the way the Democrats talk about him, that he’ll get the usual treatment down the road and be torn apart. I don’t think he’ll make it to November.

Colbert made a jackass out of Huckabee and it seems only Huckabee can’t see that.

Poor Huckster has no dignity.

I figured the Huckster would go for it and name Jesus as his running mate.

Jesus is his co-pilot.

Huckster bumper sticker--"Huck if you love Jesus."

I talked to two Baptist preachers yesterday at a local eatery--neither is considering Huck; both indicated they are Fred Heads.(not exactly in those words!)

He's not the only one. I've seen DUmpster/DailyKooks types accuse Colbert of being a "right wing conservative" even though he's a huge moonbat, makes me question the Huckster's IQ.

Colbert appeared on Meet The Depressed and even Mr Potatohead gave him a platform to trash conservatives. I wonder if the Huckster even bothered finding that out.

My parents are full on Huckabee supporters and they are dead set on him.

I try to tell them about Thompson and/or Hunter, but they just wave me off and proclaim Huckabee is the man and no one else is as good. Huckabee is a baptist minister and that’s all they see...

I’ve even told them things I’ve researched about Huckabee (spending/tax, etc and that he’s basically a RINO) and they tell me I can’t believe everything I hear/read.

Yet ,they don’t do any research themselves, and rely on the Christian news networks (Trinity/Focus on the Family) and tend to believe everything they hear/read on their end.

In the meanwhile, I’m just doing what I can to spread the word about Thompson & Hunter to everyone, not just my parents.
