“If you haven’t read the entire article...”

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!! Why would I post a short article (only 1,500 words) I haven’t read?

Obviously, there are a slew of nimbnodes who read the headline, the excert and then come to some knuckleheaded conclusion.

Everyone here needs to read Thomas Sowell’s book “Race and Economics”. It was a study on each race/ethnic group that came to America - blacks, Italians, E. European Jews, etc. The conclusion - only the blacks have never “made it” in America as a group, and by no coincidence, they are the only group that seeks government handouts AND turns their backs on their family once one member does climb out of poverty.

A book very pertinent to this subject.

Great post!!!!!!!

I love Eric Hoffer. Yes...”We’re owed, and they’re not.”

That cuts through the racial thing as a minority in the USA needs to choose. Did Condi, Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Lynn Swan, Colin Powell, etc etc say that
We’re owed, and they’re not”?

Obama could lead and unify if he felt genuinely that the black race is not “owed”...BUt his supporters will never let that happen. They’re already waiting for the gravy train that they expect to come their way once he’s in office.

They think, more gov’t more taxes more programs more money for the blacks in this country is the answer.

Education is the key, yet they’re so deeply in bed with the mediocrity of the teacher’s union they’ll never pull their heads out...

The American people will see through this charlatan...

BTW, HE WILL GET THE NOMINATION...THAT IS ASSURED...

I did read the entire article, but I have to say your excerpt WAS misleading. Not everyone wants to click through to the article. Sometimes I don’t—sometimes I WON’T depending on what the site is (I sometimes get bad things on my computer at Drudge, for instance). Your excerpt, combined with the title, definitely makes it seem like that was an Obama quote. Don’t shoot the messenger—you could have made it more clear and avoided all of this.

But for the record, while that wasn’t a direct Obama quote, I have NO doubt that it expresses his mindset.

“How many generations will pass before it’s clear to them that being “owed” is nothing but slavery in a new guise?”

It only takes one, o-n-e, generation to teach it as well as only one generation to end racial bigotry.

How?

Parents stop and don’t teach or allow you children to learn it.

Done.

How many generations will pass before it’s clear to them that being “owed” is nothing but slavery in a new guise?

Very true. By expecting someone else to provide something for you you're giving them power over your future. The socialism mindset that the government owes you health care, retirement, welfare, food stamps, etc. gives the government power over you. You buy into the lie that they owe you and soon they own you.

Weaken individual character among a people by comfortable reliance upon paternal government and a nation soon becomes incapable of free self government and fit only to be governed; the higher and nobler qualities of national life that make for ideals and effort and achievement become atrophied and the nation is decadent. -- Elihu Root

You make a good point. I finally got around to talking about this a little bit with a friend of my son’s..who has done it on his own too. I asked him what the difference was- his answer was pretty telling. He tapped his head with his forefinger and said “I left the hood”.

Amazing.

Noted and I thought about it after seeing some of the comments but had previously not encountered the “Excerpt Expert Response”

Teasers are teasers, though. And it sure flushes out those who have a lack of diligence.

One of the things ‘owed’ to eveyone by the government of this country is an education. It’s the way out of poverty and it’s free for twelve years. Why don’t the Rev. and Obama teach their groupies to think and learn not whine,a helping hand in the past has now become a gimme, gimmemore because I’m owed!

He tapped his head with his forefinger and said “I left the hood”.

That is exactly what young black men and women need to do, both mentally and physically.

The sorry fact is that if Obama gets elected president and implements all the socialist plans he has in store for the country, it won’t change one whit the lives of the people who expected nirvana with his election. I know why they want to get Obama elected, but they have no clue what his election would mean for them. For them it would be a continuance of the government-sponsored mess it has made out of their lives since the sixties.

Wait a minute....did I mis-read this article? Obama didn’t say “we’re owed”, a WISE black man said this. Correct?

Correct. It was the gregarious black man the author sat next to on the plane that said it.

The headline was misleading but the mods made a notation to it that Obama wasn't the one who said it.

Great article, horrible title.

As long as they think someone owes them something, they’ll go NOWHERE.

It's been quite a while since someone owned anyone in this country. The Vietnamese,Indians, etc. come to this country and work hard, live together, pool their money, buy businesses, educate their kids, in short contribute to their growth as well as the community. Obama’s kind would rather bask in thoughts of slavery and what they can do to make the white folk pay for it - even though their own kind sold them into slavery in the first place. There are many blacks who have done well in America by hard work and good attitudes - something Obama’s pastor can't fathom.

Obama didn’t make those comments. A man riding next to the author of this article did. And he was decrying the fact that many Blacks felt they are owed. I do agree for many other reasons Obama is not fit to be president.

I was thinking of the university charity operation. i think that there is a very good case for government aid to poor, intelligent, and conscientious students, but it should be color-blind and based on student qualities.

Yes, the wise black man not Obama. Obama and his followers feel they are owed.

Obama, is a man without core values. We don’t really know much about him, or where he stands. We know only about the people he keeps and that scares us.

Are we in fear or concern for people like Bill Cosby? No. We know his core values as a man, black man, American etc.

Obama, will say anything, do anything, to get elected....Just like Hillary.

Standing in front of the flags made me want to vomit...

What a charlatan...

Nice deceptive headline and excerpt. You’ve successfully managed to convince a few idiots that this is a quote from Obama and in the process discredit FR.
