CA Supreme Court Gives Voters the Finger, Allows Gay Marriage

Well, apparently the will of the people doesn't mean much in California, at least not in the eyes of liberal activist judges. The California State Supreme Court today overturned California laws that define marriage as a union between a man and a woman. One of those laws was a law passed by 61% of California voters in 2000 as a ballot proposition. What's particularly galling is that the decision was a 4-3 decision by the judges, so essentially one person's vote in the court was enough to overrule the will of 61% of the California electorate. Effectively the California court has told the state's voters that what they want doesn't matter.

And, predictably, the left-wing media trumpeted the court's decision with gushing articles, downplaying the usurping of the will of California voters. Just read the opening paragraph of the AP's headline story on the decision:

"SAN FRANCISCO - California's Supreme Court declared that gay couples in the nation's biggest state can marry — a monumental but perhaps short-lived victory for the gay rights movement Thursday that was greeted with tears, hugs, kisses and at least one instant proposal of matrimony."

The will of the people is being ignored nation wide. How else can it be explained that, even today, the border is still porous as ever when it was made abundantly clear that the erection of a border fence was preferred by a large majority of the electorate.

Its a sad day for California. Not so much that Gays can get married now but that the will of the people was overturned by a few old Judges. What other laws can they overturn? How about making California a Bi-lingual state so everyone must learn Spanish? or maybe Smoking will be banned state wide even in the home? Or maybe Polygamy will be legalized next? A sad day indeed. This country is headed towards a krytocracy - rule by the judges. It is a dangerous trend. Already they are making laws and breaking laws. And they far too often they are getting away with it.

Our Supreme Court in Washington flipped us off not long ago by overturning an Initiative which limited property tax increases. It passed by a large margin, but the court said that we didn't really understand the Initiative.

It's infuriating. Imperial megalomaniac judges have wreaked havoc on this country.

Regarding the decision of California judges concerning gay marriage, given that the judges not only had Proposition 22 in their faces, but also that Californian’s will likely consider a one-man, one-woman marriage amendment to their constitution in November, the judges’ decision reeks of pro-gay, special-interest PC.

Romans 1:25-27 tells us that same-sex sexual relationships are a consequence of idolatry. In other words, such relationships are a consequence of disobeying the 1ST COMMANDMENT, a major aspect of the GREATEST COMMANDMENT, to love the jealous God with all your being.

Homosexuals need to keep in mind, however, that the good news of the gospel is not about how God despises same-sex sexual relationships. In fact, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 indicates that certain members of that church had been slaves to such relationships but had been cleansed in Jesus' name. So these former homosexuals had evidently repented and accepted God's grace to straighten their lives out.

Not the first time that's happened.....This is nothing knew. and nothing will be done this time either. The "people" are screwed.

The time "we" ( when I lived there...) voted for Prop 187, 209, 140....And the 9th Circuit struck them down....one after another.

Those were one of the reasons I left SoCal. And will NEVER move back...The will of THE PEOPLE doesn't mean anything.

And the really alarming thing about it is the average judge is as thick as a brick. The average judge was a lousy lawyer who couldn’t make a living as an attorney, so ran for the bench. The biggest egoists in the country are judges. And they HATE to hear cases! They love the power and the accolades of sycophants seeking favors, but the last thing judges want to do is hear a case where they might have to apply the law, a law of which they are wholly ignorant.

If you read the courts opinion, it appears that the very act of calling a same-sex union by any other name than “marriage” risks damage to the rights of each person to marry.

By that logic it would seem that we should no longer be able to refer to women as women and we should no longer be able to refer to blacks as black. From now on women shall be called men and black men should be called white men.

Stranger than fiction, this anti-logic.

Being a California resident, I can’t help but to keep my fingers crossed that a marriage amendment will make it on the ballot and get passed this fall. Of course, hope is pretty much all that we California conservatives have left...

It’s too bad that judicial activism never occurs in favor real rights of citizens, such as gun rights or the right to not be overrun by illegal immigrants.
