A North Carolina-based immigration political action committee has announced that the main thrust of its 2008 candidate and campaign operations will be to throw as many incumbent politicians out of office as possible.
William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), asserts that illegal immigration remains one of the major issues in America today that has caused more than 80 percent of the people to believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.
He adds that Republicans in Utah have already expressed their dissatisfaction in the recent primary by throwing out longtime incumbent Chris Cannon, who has been a staunch open-borders advocate. Gheen believes Cannon's defeat in the Utah Republican primary is an indication that Americans are not happy with how the federal government is dealing with the illegal immigration problem.
"There's a large rumbling, [a] vibration going through the ivory towers of DC because of the Chris Cannon loss. Not only did Chris Cannon lose, he was beaten 60 to 40 percent which is an unheard of kind of win for an incumbent to go down by, predominately on the immigration-enforcement issue," Gheen contends.
ALIPAC, according to the group's leader, has now launched a campaign to throw out all incumbents this fall -- "unless that candidate is against comprehensive immigration reform/amnesty/guest worker," he notes. "[T]here are about 80 to 100 members of Congress who are good on this issue that we will be endorsing and advising people the ones we want to keep. But other than that, throw them all out," Gheen adds.
Gheen says they are calling it their '80-80 Campaign' on behalf of 80 percent of the population that opposes illegal immigration, and the 80 incumbents they intend to endorse.
My HS English teacher would have physically slapped me for uttering such a mess.
I find it interesting that so many of the conservative sounding PACs are spending effort on getting the incumbents thrown out in conservative states.
Start with MARSHA BLACKBURN!

I got gerrymandered out of that district. I know Tom Leatherwood, however, and would vote for him over her.
I would like to see Ted Kennedy/John Kerry/John McCain thrown out. They have been in the Senata too long and have done too much damage.
Well...I like what the “mess” says. Put your red pen down and enjoy the story.
Some of these guys have been there so long that I think they believe they own the place. Squatter’s rights. If they lost I still don’t think they would go easily. It would be one legal battle...one recount after another. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep trying to vote them out though.
I would like to see of list of non-incumbent republicans running for office that oppose illegal immigration.
Maryland’s Andy Harris (1st District) comes to mind (he beat incumbent RINO Gilchrest)
Just a thought -
We may never see term limits ( not sure I would want that), but if there was a way to limit time served on a committee, it could reduce the entrenchment mentality some of these folks get by place and position.

Both have a nice sound to them. I say let's go for it. I must be an honorary member as I had already decided to just this even before hearing about the new effort.
