A coworker recieved this email from a soldier he knows in Iraq today.

Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to "The War Zone". I wanted to share with you what happened.
He got off the plan and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.
So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you. I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States.
I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.
If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

Got the same e-mail today. Had thought it was genuine, but you posting it makes me think it is a well crafted hoax. Not that it isn’t 100% plausable.

I got the same email. I’m planning to look into it to see if it is a genuine email from a genuine soldier.
Duplicate of another thread. And the soldier appears to be in Afghanistan, not Iraq. Which is it?
I have a pen pal in Iraq, we trade emails daily, he said he doesn’t know if that particular email is real, but the jist of it was.
He kept hoping Jimmy Stewart was going to run over, shave Obama’s head and expose the 666 mark. /Damien reference

It is from Captain Jeffrey S. Porter. Also, it is all over the web. I searched using google for ‘Jeffrey S. Porter’ and ‘captain’ and the only hits I got were for this email. (Which could indicate it is fake.)
We need to verify that it is true, and if it is, make sure all the MSM get it and publicize it. If they don’t, we need to post it to all MSM blogs and anywhere else we can.
Hoax or not, it still sounds about right...

Obama says once he is elected and gets his security force, he will take care of the soldiers having guns.
I intended to write some more, but, not wishing to get banned, it is probably best that I don’t.
My son is stationed at Bagram. He was in the process of returning to Bagram from a mid-deployment leave as Obama did his “Imagine” Tour there. I will get some verbatim second hand reports on the visit and let you know what I find next week after he is settled back in for the balance of his 15 months.
Matt, the moderator at Blackfive (http://www.blackfive.net), seems to think the email might be real but I think it requires a little research (as one of the Freepers above seems inclined to do). Considering how Obamarama just passed on visiting troops at Landstuhl, the email from Afghanistan, not Iraq, is not too hard to swallow.
This soldier must be one degree of separation from a lot of Freepers.
I heard about this early today and was checking into it during the day. There are 3 versions of the email posted, one with Porter in the Army, one the USAF and, just this evening, a new one with him in the Marines.
Otherwise, the body of the email is the same.
I think it is either a fake, a set-up, or perhaps it is real and leftist blogs posting it later altered it to lessen its credibility.
The unit referred to is a Utah National Guard Unit, A Company, 142nd MI Battalion.
Verdict’s still out though...
