Have I missed something? McCain has called Obama a celebrity, and that's about as far as he has gone in terms of "character assassination".
On the other hand, Obama has put some pretty nasty words in the mouths of Bush and McCain, trying to make them look like bad people (perhaps even racist). So who's assassinating someone's character?

Kerry claims he is talking from experience, apparently relating to the Swiftboat allegations , which were never proven untrue.
Careful, there. Proving a negative is a tricky proposition. It was up to the Swift Boat Veterans to prove their case was true, and I think they did.
