Sorry, but isn’t this absolutely meaningless? Barack was adopted by Soetero, so this must have been a new birth certificate reissued after the adoption.

I have to ask the question, because this doesn't make sense to me. Why would a new COLB be issued with updated information? Wouldn't the original COLB be retained, with a legal name change form filed alongside it?

I'm not being ornery - just confused.

I’m around BO’s age and adopted. Upon my adoption a new birth certificate was issued with my adoptive parents’ names and the records of the original destroyed. That’s often the way it was done back then.
