As a graduate of one of the military's war college command and staff courses, it's been amazing to watch the McCain campaign in action to date. During the period between the primaries and the conventions, they've been running a classic, pre-emptive guerrilla war against the Obama camp. During this time, McCain maintained a relatively low profile and husbanded his resources, only acting when the Obama camp made a move that could substantially widen the race. And, McCain always attacked Obama's strengths, or "centers of gravity" in military parlance, and did so very effectively. Here are some examples:
Argument: Obama's very charismatic and can turn out and excite huge crowds.
Counter-argument: So can Britney Spears. Would you want her as president?

Now, however, Obama's monopoly of the media has come to an end and the amount of coverage is evening out. McCain's attacks will now coalesce around the big issue of the campaign among voters of both parties: change.

No it won’t. The media are socialist citizens of the world. They will do anything to get a fellow traveler elected.
Interesting article. There are a number of other points which should also be made including 143 days experience (voting “present” in the Illinois Senate only means you were in the building but chose not to have your opinion recorded), judgment and character. The more people learn about Obama, the more they will not want to vote for him.
Are you saying that he voted present 143 times, instead of “yea” or “nay”? That is something, in itself!
When your campaign is in a deficit on money compared to your opponent, you have to use guile.
MCCain’s use of the internet to spread his videos has been great.
His explanation, excuse if you will, was that he failed to understand the difference between voting present in the state senate and the US Senate. In the state a present vote sets the stage for another run at something. In the US Senate a present vote means nothing.
If he can serve in the Senate and have so little understanding of the its rules how can he possible hope to convince us that he would not be a real and present danger in the oval office?
This was the Clinton approach to several early power-grabs. When the facts came out it was put off to a clerical error or something like that. Sure, it hurt them to admit they had made a silly error, but in return they were able to slowly but surely take on more and more power.
