Reading the exchange you and Slackonomics author Lisa Chamberlain had about the challenges of parenting (and noting that you havent had much time to blog because of the needs of your own children), Im curious what you think about Gov. Palin campaigning for - and possibly becoming - Vice President having a four month old special needs child.

The blogger knows nothing of special needs babies. She says that special needs babies do not require anything extra, and that is dead wrong.
Here is a good link about down syndrome:
I had twins that were high risk for having problems, and the therapy for them started when they got home from the hospital 4 days a week. I know down syndrome babies are considered high risk, so I know that therapy will be recommended for her baby also.
That seems to be the battle cry of 21st Century feminists.
My wife’s brother has Down’s Syndrome. At 24, he is still at the level of a five year old (although in some ways he seems better. If you are a five year old for long enough you learn some things.) My wife knows a bit about raising Down’s Syndrome children, and she is confident that with the support of the siblings, and extended family, a high energy woman like Gov. Palin can do right by Trig. Down’s children are exceptionally affectionate, loving, and like routine. It will be a challenge, but no more than being governor and raising children presents a challenge. This is her decision to make.
I have an autistic son (no, it’s not the same but it presents plenty o’ challenges!) I have 3 younger children than him and have worked out of the house since he was 9 months old. We have a great family support, and that goes far. Some parents of kids with special needs don’t have a choice about working, but they make it work.
PS- I agree with you- that was my point! : )
