Is this just a local issue or is something going on here? Obviously is there is a serious shortage of supply here.. but why?

Well in Illinois it is around $4.09 (but we have taxes on our gas).

hurricane interrupted supply.
Or, GWB is using his Rove market manipulator to line the pockets of “Big Oil” /echo off.

Only if they're properly inflated of course.

it is not a local issue, but a regional issue...I would expect it to spread depending on how long the refineries are offline due to Ike...
That said, I saw this coming and filled up this morning for the bargain basement price of $3.69/gal...

The Port Arthur gasoline pipeline apparently IS closed. This is a preventive response to Ike’s potential damage.

Gasoline is up here in SE Wisconsin to $3.99. That is up $.30 in one day. I expect it will go higher, so after work, I’m going to fill all the cars we own.

The sign at the station I went to had it at 3.81 (up .15) in Jacksonville, FL this morning. Fortunately for me, they hadn’t changed the price at the pump so I was able to fill up at yesterday’s price.
