Obama Panders to Women by Pushing 'Wage Gap' Myth in New Ad

Obama has a new ad out pushing the "wage gap" myth. As we've discussed many times, men earn more than women on average for many legitimate reasons. These include:

1) Men work longer hours at more demanding and hazardous jobs.

2) Men are more likely to travel, relocate or have long commutes for their jobs.

3) Men are more likely to have more years and more consecutive years of experience, because women are more likely to work part time or take years off of work to care for their children.

Given these factors, it would be very hard for men to not earn considerably more than women. When men and women of matched qualifications are working in matched jobs, women earn as much as men do.

One interesting thing about the ad: while in general Republican candidate John McCain has been just as craven as Obama in pandering to women on the wage gap, this ad claims McCain said women concerned about making less than men need "more education and training."

That's not exactly true, but it suggests that on some level McCain might be willing to publicly acknowledge that there are other factors behind the wage gap than discrimination.

If he does, of course, Obama and the feminists will attack him for "blaming women" for the wage gap. My prediction is that McCain will never say much of anything on this, but I'll be happy to be wrong.

Stupid on Brack-o’s part...since it’s come out that he pays his female campaign staffers less than McCain pays his.

There is nothing new about the issue...the Democrats have used it for decades.

So, what’s Mr. Obama going to do about it? Nothing. He can’t correct a problem that does not exist.

Mr. Obama stretches the truth to such an extent that it makes witnesses cringe.

They always do this slimy slight of hand trick. They start out talking about equal pay for equal work (no one questions that) and at some point switch to equal pay for equivalent work, which is a bureaucrat/statist's dream.

I hope McCain doesn't give him a pass on this one.

Oh PLEASE go there Obama.. We want so much to point out the wage gap in your own campaign.

Compensation figures for his legislative staff reveal that Obama pays women just 83 cents for every dollar his men make.
Obama’s average male employee earned $54,397
Obama’s female employees [earned] $45,152, on average.

John McCain, however, pays women $1.04 for every dollar his men make.
McCain’s male staffers averaging $53,936.
McCain's female employees averaged $55,878.

More proof that Obama is all words with no substance behind them. I'm still waiting for someone to say what one thing Obama has done to deserve or makes him qualified to be Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces. All he does is talk, this is just one more example that his actions don't match his rhetoric.

Agreed. Now is the time for McCain to make an ad about this particular piece of information.

Yet another lie they tell to keep divisions alive, as they do with other groups. Then they say Republicans are at fault. Damn them for the damage they do to America.

I wonder how many people don’t even know equal pay for equal work has been a law for decades. I suppose once B0 is president there will be a federal law mandating pay increases for all women, no matter how undeserved they are.

Well, according to the de Rothchild woman who defected from Hillary to McCain, there is a wage deficit for women...on Obama’s staff. She said on CNN this AM that he has fewer women on his staff than Obama and those he has are paid only 70% of what the men are paid.
This would make a good ad, GOP. Again, Barry is proved to be a phony.
