Carl Cameron of Fox News reports that from the McCain campaign perspective there is "nothing even close to a deal." Cameron said the mood on the Hill has turned remarkably "sour" and that it appears at the moment that the Paulson plan may be "all but dead."

Sometimes dead is better.
I told you folks this was the American Taxpayers’ Bastile Moment!!
Good.
We don’t need no stink’in socialism!
McCain went all in, betting the house title deed, and he just may win big after all.
Dead? Is it blonde, too?
Faux News won't report it if a dead blonde isn't involved, someway...
McCain should get out there and appear to be responsible for killing this monster.
Does this mean no debate. I’m not watching no matter what, but the folks in North Mississippi are livid.
Good. Maybe the headless chickens in Washington can calm down and think before they leap.
I will wait for another source. I don’t trust anything that comes out of Carl Cameron’s mouth.
Yes, if he presents an alternative that seems more palatable for the American taxpayers, and gets it through, he will be seen as a hero.
I got the impression they had gotten a LOT of calls like mine. Particularly Arlen Specter -- his DC and PA office phones were busy for much of the afternoon.
You mean... you mean that Frank, Dodd and the Democrats lied?
Imagine that.
Barry’s on blabbing with Brit.
What’s going to be the Obama camp’s spin; McCain cheats taxpayers out of massive profits?
IT NEEDS TO BE DEAD!
There is an incredible opportunity here for a conservative solution. The Dems can’t realistically demagogue tax cuts as ‘for the rich’, when they are the ones that want to outright GIVE $700B to a bunch of rich guys. It also can do the unthinkable and associate the Dems with Bush, while the Republicans are the heroes.
Of course, that would take some people with the stones to get it done...
The Dems tried to get the word out early this afternoon (BEFORE McCain met with the President) that a deal was done so as to prevent McCain from getting any credit. The House GOP must have grown a set and killed the deal.
So now McCain and Obama have met with the President and the leadership and they ALL get tagged with the results.
Tomorrow is gonna be another Black Friday.
Great!
Now maybe they can actually put away the scare tactics and find a solution that doesn’t involve wholesale socialism.
