What the media does, and doesnt tell us:
Tells Us:
Sarah Palin's husband has a DUI conviction from 22 years ago.
Doesnt Tell Us: Ted Kennedy was drunk while driving a car off a bridge in Chappaquiddick. That same crash killed a young campaign volunteer with whom he was having an affair. Oh, and that woman was pregnant with his child.
Mr. Palin's DUI came a mere 4 years after Barack Obama stopped using cocaine and marijuana (by his own admission in his autobiography).
Tells Us:
Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant.
Doesnt Tell Us:
Joe Biden's son was paid a large amount of money as a consultant to credit card company MBNA. That same company had business before Senator Joe Biden concerning regulation of consumer credit practices. After the company paid a hefty sum to Mr. Biden's son, he voted in favor of legislation to help that company.
That same son, Hunter, is also engaged in a legal investigation and suit for defrauding a former business partner
Tells Us:
Sarah Palin should be considered "selfish" for agreeing to run for VP knowing about her daughter's condition. Knowing that her public role would bring extra scrutiny on the family is selfish and she should have declined the candidacy to protect her child

“Sarah has spent more time with troops in Iraq (as commander of the Alaska National Guard she visited Iraq last year) than Obama has even while running for president.”
Oops - False.
Sarah went to KUWAIT, but never crossed the border into Iraq. I’m not saying Barack “Retreat” Obama has an advantage here, just that fact-check lists should be - you know - *factual*.
Sarah has 2 sons, but only the 19 y/o, Track, is in the military and currently in Iraq. Her other son, Trig, is 5 months old.
Great start on the list. Keep it up.
She actually did cross the border into Iraq but it is confidential. She was on an Alaska radio show one day in Kuwait and said she was standing on the Iraq border and tomorrow they were heading North. That was all she was allowed to say. The only thing North of the Kuwait border is Iraq.
Sarah crossed the border into Iraq and presided over a re-enlistment ceremony of an Alaskan National Guard Soldier.
Interesting. I could have sworn I heard it come straight from her mouth that she hadn’t actually crossed the border.
Still, I wouldn’t consider this actually visiting Iraq. Can you imagine if Obambi tried to claim he had “visited Iraq” after a brief, quarter mile excursion across the border? We’d be all over him like white on rice.
I *love* Palin, but we should hardly count that as an “Iraq visit.”
IIRC, she was asked not to discuss exactly where she went. In another report, which I can't find at the moment, they said she went north from Kuwait. The only thing north of Kuwait is Iraq.
My comment was based on your comment above and what the General traveling with her said in the article I referenced.
Still, I wouldnt consider this actually visiting Iraq.
We were not discussing if she VISITED Iraq, we were discussing the fact that...
she hadnt actually crossed the border
Actually the original discussion centered around the quote from the article that claimed “Sarah has spent more time with troops in Iraq...”
I used “crossed the border” based on what I thought I heard her say. Namely, that she hadn’t actually crossed the border - she didn’t have clearance to do so.
Regardless - the article is misleading. She really spent time with troops in Kuwait. The fact that she happened to make an extremely short border crossing during her visit to troops in Kuwait doesn’t really constitute “spending more time with the troops in Iraq.”
Again - I love Palin. It’s just not smart to put out fact-check type articles that are so easy to pick apart or challenge. It’s fodder for the left.
What website is this on? That is totally ridiculous.
That was from the FRONT PAGE of Daily KOS this morning...
Whoa, I hadnt seen that photo previously.
